I have used Explode the Code series to teach struggling readers for years. It is used in many reading programs and at least one national learning center. It is a complete synthetic phonics program, from cvc short-vowel words ( Book 1) to multi-syllabic words with prefixes and suffixes( Book 8) . For those children who are struggling readers, this is the best there is. With patience at the start, it works with dyslexic students to help them overcome decoding problems.

I use books 1-4 , and book 8 the most, picking lessons from books 5-7 as needed. .

I am so happy I have found this type of book. My kiddo absolutely loves it and I think its just perfect how easy it is to do on your own and it helps with spelling. The best book by far that I have ever purchased for homeschool.
