If you're looking for a parent- and kid-friendly phonics workbook, you've found it in this series. New phonics skills are introduced in each workbook. The Get Ready books teach students how to say and write consonants. The short stories in the Beyond books develop understanding and critical-thinking skills. The "1/2" books provide further practice activities. Teacher's guides feature detailed lesson plans and address key principles. My daughter enjoyed the pictures drawn by kids, and she loved using these workbooks to reinforce her newly acquired reading skills. Grades K to 4. Approx. 100 pages each, softcovers from Educators Publishing. -- Cindy

Jody Gular5 Stars Out Of 5June 15, 2007Jody GularI am a specialized tutor, working with students who have reading difficulties. I have used "Explode the Code" for years on recommendation from Dr. Jerome Rosner, author of "Helping Children Overcome Learning Difficulties". The "Explode the Code" series is easy to use, info is explicit and concise, and the work pages give plenty of practice before introducing a new concept.
