If you're looking for a parent- and kid-friendly phonics workbook, you've found it in this series. New phonics skills are introduced in each workbook. The Get Ready books teach students how to say and write consonants. The short stories in the Beyond books develop understanding and critical-thinking skills. The "1/2" books provide further practice activities. Teacher's guides feature detailed lesson plans and address key principles. My daughter enjoyed the pictures drawn by kids, and she loved using these workbooks to reinforce her newly acquired reading skills. Grades K to 4. Approx. 100 pages each, softcovers from Educators Publishing. -- Cindy

Susan Mcdonald5 Stars Out Of 5September 18, 2010Susan McdonaldI love the Explode the Code series. They are perfect for children who need more time and work on phonics. They are teacher friendly and child friendly. My students love the funny picture and sentences. Imagine a phonics program that is actually fun and interesting to children. They work very hard to read the sentences because they are funny.
Lindsey5 Stars Out Of 5January 26, 2010LindseyI love this book because I can put my child right where she needs to be without worrying about grade level. Also, this book stretches her vocabulary while she is strenthening her reading/writing skills. (One of the first few pages used the word rubbish for trash.) My daughter also enjoys that she can do it with little help from me.
