Tony Evans explores the problem of Christians who continue to sin and do not fully utilize the freedom they've received in Christ. He compares Satan to a plantation owner who knows that legally his slaves have been freed, but tries to convince them that they'll never make it in this world without him. Evans says that sometimes we need to hit rock bottom before we realize that "Christ IS the Rock at the bottom." Free at Last will inspire and encourage those who have yet to confess Christ as well as those who've been Christians for many years.

Angel I. Rib5 Stars Out Of 5August 17, 2009Angel I. RibThis is one of the most practical books written regarding how to live a practical, genuine and victorious life in Christ. This book should be required reading and training for all believers in our churches. It outlines the practicality of grace once we realize where our true identity lies and we refuse to listen to the lies of the accuser and the flesh.
Jacob S.5 Stars Out Of 5February 8, 2008Jacob S.This book was required to be read for one of our groups in my church. This book really helped me understand, that Satan makes his thoughts to become ours. I think my favorite chapter was "Beauty of Brokeness." It helped me see that God wants us to become broken before Him, so He can use us to help others. In Christ's Name,Jacob S.
Dr. Robert W. Kellemen5 Stars Out Of 5June 7, 2005Dr. Robert W. KellemenIn "Free at Last," pastor and theologian Tony Evans explains who Christians truly are in Christ. His essential point clarifies that the "old man" of Romans 6 is truly dead and that the believer is not two people (an "old man" and a "new man") simultaneously. Evans further explains that the believer's battle against sin is not a battle between two equally powerful forces, or persons, or personalities. Rather, it is a battle between the one new person in Christ and the remnants of the old ways (the "flesh") learned prior to salvation. It's still a battle--but one eminently winnable through Christ who declares us "more than conquerors." As the subtitle suggests, "Experiencing True Freedom through Your Identity in Christ," Evans uses biblical passages and current illustrations to reveal the new you--the true you in Christ. The message is encouraging, empowering, practical and thoroughly biblical. Reviewer: Dr Robert W. Kellemen is the author of "Soul Physicians," "Spiritual Friends," and the forthcoming, "Sacred Companions: A History of Soul Care and Spiritual Direction."
