Everywhere You Go There's a Zacchaeus Up a Tree: Small-Town Faith and Words of Wisdom by Roger Campbell, 2017

Small towns with front porches. Twilight strollings and visits to reminisce the happenings of the day.
I have enjoyed the encouragement and thought following the reading of these gathered selections. I would suggest they not be read one after the other, but treated as a devotional to be thought upon during the day. Very applicable to several circumstances of life; a need to be thoughtful of another, a listener, a lifter of the head.
Scripture is brought into daily living as remembrances are given from emails he received that sparked a reflective response with a good kernel for each of us to plant and watch grow in our lives. Starting a good day ~ not grumbling, but thankful.
It has long been my practice to heed the counsel of another godly man given many years ago: "As you start your day, speak to God before speaking to anyone else. Listen for His voice before engaging in human conversation. Read His Word before reading anything else."
--Everywhere You Go There's a Zacchaeus Up a Tree, 40.
I love this title! There may be someone searching for Jesus, out of sight in their view requiring a higher perch ~ to get above our earthly endeavors to reach what only He can give us ~ peace, love, One-on-one. Roger Campbell has relayed meeting Him places and times we may not be aware of beyond the noise. Early morning birds singing! Greeting the day as He watches over us.
I look forward to continuing to read each offering of uplifting hope as the days come anew. I will enjoy this little book with wisdom and comfort provided pointing us to the One who loves us with an everlasting love. What an honor for his family to have them compiled for generations to come.

MoonpiePRYORAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5INSPIRATIONAL AND THOUGHT PROVOKING!October 2, 2017MoonpiePRYORAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Everywhere You Go There's a Zacchaeus Up a Tree: Small-Town Faith and Words of Wisdom from Roger Campbell's Newspaper Columns. When I chose this book based on the cute title I did not even notice the author was Roger Campbell: the famous writer, broadcaster, columnist, pastor, father and husband! With such a life of variety, insight and experience I knew it was going to be a great book and I wasnt wrong! It isnt a big book, only 165 pages, but it would be 3 inches thick if it was measured by the treasures within. This is a simple read, but very inspirational and thought provoking.
Each devotional is a page long with a scripture at the end. I was impressed with how much truth and wisdom each simple story contained. He shares personal experiences, biblical truths and lessons learned from people in the past. Each page was engaging and captured my attention. No matter what the tone of the story; he always ends it on a note of hope
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, not only from the entertainment side but also from all the ways it gently opened my eyes and mind to looking at many spiritual matters in a different light. A book shared not only from a full life but also a full heart. Refreshing and different!
I received this book from Kregel Publications in exchange for an honest review. The opinions I have stated are my own.

Emanuel Pavel5 Stars Out Of 5Everywhere You Go There's a Zacchaeus Up a Tree - reviewNovember 14, 2017Emanuel PavelQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Everywhere You Go There's a Zacchaeus Up a Tree: Small-Town Faith and Words of Wisdom from Roger Campbell's Newspaper Columns.Everywhere You Go There's a Zacchaeus Up a Tree - is the kind of book that you can read a section or two/few and go back to it later. The book covers a lot of topics, and the author has a unique and interesting way of writing that is easy to follow and easy to keep up with.
I found it an interesting, encouraging, and inspiring read, a good companion to my quiet time either in morning or evening. The short stories can be considered a daily/weekly devotion style.
I value the straight-up wisdom, simple, no fancy words illustrations, this book contain. Some are touching, other are humorous but the most important each story is related to a Scripture verse. Also, I appreciate how in his columns the author combined his faith with numerous facts (or events) to give a positive perspective about life.

Seasons of GraceAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Really Enjoyed These Short Humorous but Spiritual storiesOctober 20, 2017Seasons of GraceAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Everywhere You Go There's a Zacchaeus Up a Tree: Small-Town Faith and Words of Wisdom from Roger Campbell's Newspaper Columns.I really enjoyed this collection of short stories of wisdom and wit. There was a ton of thought provoking information. I enjoyed reading one or two stories, at random intervals during the day or several times a week. It's not really a book you would read in a continuous manner from cover to cover. I found the end of each story, rather than the beginning, included a verse that applies to the theme; so it could also be used as a type of devotional. But for me it was more just encouragement and uplifting occasional reads, that included humor and interesting tales.
I kept my book in a place that made it easy for myself or other members of the family, to pick up and read if I only had a few short minutes of time to enjoy it. Roger seemed to be a very likable guy who could share Christ's love with people of all types of diverse backgrounds. There's a story for everyone.
I was provided with a copy of this book courtesy of Kregel Publishers. I was not asked or required to review this book positively. All opinions are my own.
