I'm a Children's Director and we are constantly looking for books to help families talk about God and Biblical concepts with kids outside of church and this is one that I would buy for every young child if I could. The artwork is fantastic and the stories are well written and easy to understand.

I have been reading this book to my grandson and it has really started to soften his heart to God. The one review where it says the plan of salvation is an after thought may be a matter of interpretation. When I read the review, I grabbed the book to see what she was talking about. I believe it is this: "Jesus is God's Son. He lived with His Father up in heaven. He looked down at the world and saw the people doing bad things. He knew God must punish them. But God didn't want to punish the people who did bad things. So Jesus and His Father agreed on a special plan. Jesus said, I will go down to earth, and you must punish me instead of the people who sin...."

I personally don't see this as saying God came up with a plan B. I think it is explaining a biblical truth in terms a small child can understand.

I plan to purchase this book for all of my nieces and nephews .

Good people can agree to disagree.

Excellent for my 3 yr old grandchild. Each day is short enough to not lose a child's attention. It tells a Biblical truth in a simple and understandable way. The easy question at the end helps the child learn to listen and think.

She enjoys this simple thought at the end of each day before bed.

This would be a great book if there wasn't a HUGE theological problem. It states that Jesus coming to earth was an after thought and that only when He saw people behaving badly was the plan for Jesus to come concieved.

This one point ruins the whole book. God was not surprised by human sin. Jesus is the lamb that was chosen and slain from the foundations of the world for us. (Revelation 13:8, Ephesians 1:5, 1 Peter 1:20)

His coming was not Plan B. It was ALWAYS Plan A.

Equally, if the Trinity was surprised by men sinning, then God would not be omniscient and His original plan failed, making God fallible.

And we know He is omniscient and infallible.

Children shouldn't be taught this. They should be taught the biblical truth: that the Trinity always planned for Jesus to come to be our Savior.
