Eventide is the riveting conclusion to The Days of Redemption trilogy by Shelley Shepard Gray, celebrated author of tender Christian romance novels set in Amish country.
Honest and faithful Elsie Keim falls for her new neighbor, Landon, but she can’t bear to tell him the truth: She’s going blind.
Landon is enamored with Elsie. When Elsie’s brother Roman steps in and shares the truth of Elsie’s disease, Landon is floored. His job is demanding and takes him away from home, sometimes for days at a time. He wonders how he’d be able to keep up with his responsibilities and take care of Elsie.
In Eventide, three generations of the Keim family come together to make their dreams come true.
Shelley Shepard Gray, bestselling author of the Sisters of the Heart books, draws her Days of Redemption trilogy to a heart-warming finish.
Shelley Shepard Gray is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, a finalist for the American Christian Fiction Writers prestigious Carol Award, and a two-time HOLT Medallion winner. Having read all three, I want to say that this is my favorite, but it wouldn't be my favorite if it weren't for #1 and 2! I love how the author developed the characters over the course of the three books.
To me, the most interesting growth and evolution of character occurred in the oldest members of the Keim family, Aaron and Lovina. They were both very tightly wound into their past lives in Book 1 and in the torture of years and years of lies that they perpetuated in order to try to create a perfect family. I related to their discoveries that the lies were entangling them and poisoning their lives even more than they realized. I celebrated their emotional rebirth and bravery in being honest with their family members. There is wisdom in the story here, and I highly recommend this series.
WilaniFranklin, NCAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A Wonderful BookJanuary 18, 2014WilaniFranklin, NCAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5What an awesome conclusion to the Days of Redemption Series by Shelley Shepherd Gray. It is best if you can read the whole series in order (Daybreak, Ray of Light, and Eventide). One of the things I loved about this series and also this book is that the family faces issues that every family faces. Secrets and feelings that must be dealt with. As the secrets are revealed the family must learn to deal with them and to seek the Lord for guidance. Even though this book is about an Amish family, the way they handle the situations are the same for every family. Shelley Shepherd Gray is an author that I am now wanting to read every book she has written and every book of hers yet to be written. I would love to see a book written in the future about the Kleim family and how they are continuing to be healed from all the secrets of the past that caused division.
JPropstTimberville, VAAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A Wonderful and Insightful StoryOctober 29, 2013JPropstTimberville, VAAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Fantastic, insightful, gripping are just a few words that came to mind as I reflected on Eventide once I had finished reading it. As someone who is disabled I related to Elsie the most especially in how she felt everyone saw and treated her because of her going blind. I admired Elsie for the huge decision she had to make for herself. I wanted her life to go in one direction but she chose another direction that would be a challenge but one she felt was the best for her. Elsie is truly a woman of strength, courage and bravery.
I loved each book in this series but Eventide was my favorite because of Elsie. I'm looking forward to the next series.
PatsdreamHuntsville, ALAge: Over 65Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Amish Fiction by Superb Author Shelley Shepard GraOctober 10, 2013PatsdreamHuntsville, ALAge: Over 65Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Elsie's twin sister Viola, is planning her wedding. Elsie's family treats her as though she is helpless instead of a young woman. Because of this she doesn't let them know that her vision is worse than they think. When she meets Landon Troyer and goes for a buggy ride she thinks she may have found someone special. Then her brother steps in and tells Landon that Elsie is going blind and nothing can be done about it. This books shows how love, faith, family and forgiveness can overcome any obstacle. Shelley is one of my favorite authors and I have never been disappointed in anything she has written. Her own love for family, friends, especially God, and her faith shine through the pages of any book she writes.
No one gave me this book and all opinions are my own. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Amish fiction. Definitely a keeper.

Also, it is interesting how authors make them have their problems as we do. When a series starts I always looks for characters that they can continue for the next book. I really enjoyed this one.
