If you have not read Tozer's work, you should. Very thought provoking. Good read for a good night's sleep.

Previously, I reviewed Mornings with Tozer, so naturally I wanted to get my hands on the evening version -- devotionals are better when paired. This is the has the same setup as the morning version. This is a yearly, dated devotional is set up and each month has its own "cover page" of sort. Each devotional is on one page and begins with the date on top followed by the topic or title of that devotional. Then, you get the focal scripture and short devotional from one of A.W. Tozer's sermons -- these are his personal thoughts on the scripture. The devotionals are very powerful and mind-blowing. They lead me to some really deep thinking in regards to myself in relation with intimacy with Christ and God.

The difference with this devotional is that it doesn't include a prayer shockingly enough. I can appreciate not having the prayer as it allows for me, as the reader, to really think on what I'm praying. However, I also wish there was still a prayer to help prompt me. The cover for the morning devotional is more on a burnt orange color with a rooster on it. This devotional is a gorgeous teal color with an owl.

The design and layout of this devotional is perfect. This pairs so well with the morning version and would be an awesome pair to have on your nightstand or bedside table for use. I totally recommend it! I am just falling in love with A.W. Tozer's work!

Purchased for future daily devotional reading. Based upon previous writings, I expect it to be excellent.

Tozer's writings are as relevant today as they were decades ago when he wrote them. Taken from books and sermons and other writings of his, these 366 Devotional Readings are meant to be a complement to personal Bible study time and I have to say they are thought provoking!

In one of the readings, Tozer speaks of our devotional life being crowded out by busyness and modern technologies. Sound familiar? He was referring to radio and television but I can only imagine how he would feel with the distractions of tablets, phones, computers, and hand held games that we have in the 21st century. Rarely do I see families eating at a table in a restaurant without one or all of them staring at their individual electronic devices while silence reigns between them. I am guilty of this myself!

I have been re-energized by this devotional. My copy already has many passages highlighted. Tozer was a studied man, devoted to prayer, and a highly respected 'modern day' theologian for his time. I highly recommend adding Evenings with Tozer to your daily repertoire of study materials.
