Tell us a little about yourself. I am a retired teacher and counselor with B.A and M. Ed. degrees. My commitment to Christ was made over fifty years ago and in the course of time I have served in many church ministries from youth work, teaching adults, to counseling and pulpit ministry. I have also served extensively with the Youth for Christ organization, locally and nationally. I have six children and six grand-children. Much of my spare time continues to be consumed with Biblical research and writing and have posted over 140 studies or blog writings in a effort to challenge the mind of those seeking truth.
What was your motivation behind this project? I was motivated to write this book by a pastor who desired a thorough and easy to understand presentation of the doctrine of eternal salvation. I had written and two previous manuscripts on this topic without publication. My research had revealed that there were many errors in current teaching which present a great need for clarification using the fullness of the scriptures.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? Readers will be able to consider their own eternal state based on scriptural truths. The writing contains more than 1200 quotes and references to support the presentation. Hopefully, many will take greater ownership of their own spiritual destiny and have the courage to examine the "truths" they are hearing to assure their own eternal hope.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? During the course of my studies I have to substantiate teachings that were presented as truths. I have found that there are many errors being propagated. I can truly say that I "own" my own beliefs and have anchored them in the Word. I have also learned many things about which I had been unaware. I can truly say that I know God's plan and his provision for my eternal welfare. Consequent to my writing, I have found that many "in the know" do not want to have their understandings challenged.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I really don't have any authors who influence my writing or my life. My passion and strength in is the word of God. The greatest influences in my life have been my parents.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: I would caution people to challenge their thinking and the presentations that they hear. Most people have the ability to discern truth if they are willing to pursue it and and prepared to exercise their minds. There are a great many errors being presented in the Christian community as confirmed by the many denominations with varying perspectives. Everyone needs to take personal responsibility for his or her own eternal state. Be discerning. It took me many years of hard work to sort truth from fiction.
