These are not gift quality in my opinion. I would use these as inexpensive classroom Bibles, but not as a gift. I'm returning them.

I have never been this impressed with a paperback Bible before; this is a "wide distribution" choice that I think is actually a viable option, whether it be as gift/award or outreach (or anything in between!).
The cover is beautiful--that's not a lavender cover with a printed picture of some fancy artwork, that's a lavender cover with the image etched into the cover and spine. I guess it's technically still a paperback cover, but it feels sturdy and reinforced. The font (8 pt.) is actually easy to read, which is a relief because 7 pt. is unbearable for me and I was concerned about going only one size up. The footnotes are very tiny and minimal, but I didn't buy this for in-depth studying so I have no problem with it. Overall, it's about the size of a typical library novel and while the pages are thin, they feel a little different from what I'm used to in Bibles--they feel a little stronger. There's barely any "ghosting" (seeing the writing from one side of the page on the other side) and the spine is not stiff at all; it opens fairly easily and is comfortable to read whether in the middle of the Book or at the beginning or end.
It's a paperback so it's probably going to bend, crease, and wrinkle more easily than if I had a "higher quality" ESV, but this is by far the nicest paperback I've ever seen. I ordered blindly online so I have yet to actually see and hold the other paperback versions in this line, but I highly doubt you would be disappointed in any of them.
