This study Bible is a veritable goldmine of information. There are not only study notes, but there are theological articles throughout. RC Sproul has done a great service to serious students of the Bible in bringing together the vast number of scholars. I would highly recommend this to anyone. It is worth every penny. Thank you, Dr. Sproul. I owe you a debt of gratitude,

RC Sproul, et.al. have produced a Bible commentary that is sensitive to the glory of God. This study Bible is well worth the money. The theological heft of this work far surpasses anything you will find in other study Bible's. You will not be disappointed.

I read some comments on the benefits of good natural lighting so I found a little alcove with tall windows on three sides this morning with a low sun. I put my chair in the middle and opened the 2015 reformation bible...yes the one that I had complained about. Lo and behold, the text was, as others had said, readable with little effort and the fine print annotations could actually be read...all without my glasses and without squinting! I read for a half hour or so of a very compelling and complicated inset report of a critical reformed doctrine. I could have done more reading just fine.

2015 brown imitation leather...9.5 point text faint, fainter annotations, rumply paper

I tried hard to get a good ESV Reformation study edition...I failed. This brown imitation leather cover 2534 page 2015 ESV Reformation Bible is a real challenge. I think the paper is so thin that the ink had to be a bit grey. The annotations are greyer and the smaller font itself is unusually thin! I took a chance to save a buck on this bible and I lost. I can get by without glasses with most print but the main text grey ink was a mistake, I think. The annotations are murder. It's definitely a strain for the first 20 minutes. I can squint my 66 yr old eyes and make it sharp but barely. Unfortunately, a number of pages were seriously wavy and rumpled over 10+ pages or even creased/squished. The new unturned paper edges are sticky...so the printer probably got bad paper feeds a lot but I've not seen rumpling over multiple pages. The pages don't turn smoothly as a result. The price was good!... but the product...well..it's iffy to me. I'm not sure if I'll keep it and I'm not sure if spending more money will help. Too many "fair" comments even on the fancy expensive editions so that I'm confused and not too trusting. Seriously thinking of returning it even if I pay the freight and take a hit because I opened it. I really want it to be OK....I'm new to all these study bible things and compared many many posted comments carefully to find something I could take a gamble on. I bought a bunch of different bibles at once to compare...the Crossways leather interleaved ESV bible uses thicker paper and darker ink so the smaller font is actually more acceptable and the paper is way better. The McArthur bible is smaller, easier to handle...and the main text is about as readable but the annotations are tough...just like the Sproul. What to do...I wanted to read the Reformation annotations while I read. Everyone goes on and on about their quality. The extra material in the catechisms is new and interesting to me and the little McArthur bible doesn't have them. Seriously, I really need some eyeball adjusting while I read, head bobbing...etc. I pretty much have to drag out some cheap 1.75 diopter reading glasses or at least get good lighting for this darn ESV annotation print. Bedside lighting is a strain. It is not what you want to use with this very interesting bible.
