I saw some other comments that said this Bible had too small of text and a weak spine. On the contrary, i have horrible vision and i think the text is just the right size. I suppose the footnotes are a little small but nothing out of the ordinary. I am currently a student and I was looking for a Bible that would truly advance my knowledge of the Word, and this Bible has the capacity to do just that. I think this Bible has everything one could possibly want from a Bible, the footnotes and/or commentary is both theological and personal. I find that in some study Bibles the commentary is purely personal, which is ok, it's just not very in depth and educational. In this Bible you will find the footnotes/commentary enhancing your historical, linguistic, and theological understanding of the text, and also the necessary instruction one might need to become more personal and intimate with God. I would certainly recommend this Bible for everyone, laymen and academics alike.
We have been giving this Bible away to all of our kids who give themselves to Christ. After their Baptism, the get their certificate of Baptism, and this Bible. We use this one in all our studies, and our kids read from it. We have tried for years to use the same translation, and this one fits the bill, and reduces confusion in new readers.
I love my MacArthur Study Bible and my HCSB Study Bible but the ESV study bible is my favorite. The notes are out of this world. I cant read more then a couple of sentences before I find my self looking at the commentaries so it is going to take me a long time to finish reading the entire bible. But that is ok because I love it! The size is perfect to carry around and the font is just right for me to read. Thanks ESV!
