I purchased the Bible with the green imitation leather cover. I have had it for 2 years and so far it has held up nicely. This Bible is for a serious student of the Word. I actually like that there is no commentary on the bottom of the page telling you what it means. There are plenty of step by step instructions telling you how to study each book and it is much more meaningful when you see it on your own. I highly recommend this Bible!
I purchased an imperfect bible so I knew it was going to be "slightly used". The website said it was misprinted. However, when I received the bible I realized that the bible had been used and the previous owner got some of the pages wet. This should have been flagged on the website, unless it just slipped through the cracks which is possible. Putting all this aside, I am discouraged by the quality of this product.
The inductive study approach is designed for people who are going to use their bibles. The poor construction of this bible will not facilitate the use; It will simple fall apart under duress. The paper is so thin that bleed through is inevitable. The pages are glued rather than sown into the binding which not stand up to the stress of continued use. The genuine leather is cheap, more like bonded leather. It is unfortunate because the layout is great. I will be returning this bible. They never should have changed the old format... cheaper materials equal cheaper quality.
I was simply looking for a good Bible in the ESV translation with a good print (I have some eye/vision problems, so I need my Bibles to be at least 8.5-9 pt font). I was pleasantly suprised with the ESV New Inductive Study Bible! First of all, it arrived in perfect condition, and quickly. I did order with one day shipping, however, it ship rather quickly. The print is plenty big enough for me to read with ease, and it also has a verse by verse format, so that each verse number is on the far left side, and not in the middle of a paragraph. That feature definitely makes it much easier to identify verses when studying the Scriptures. I did find the few study helps beneficial, though there were not very many. There are honestly only two things that keep me from making this my primary reading and studying Bible. First, the words of Christ are NOT in red, which I do typically prefer. Second, there are no sibject headings. That's not so much a problem while reading/studying, but in church service and/or Bible Studies, when looking up various Scriptures, it can be frustrating unless you're particularly familiar with the passage to know exactly what's going on. I did find the inductive method quite difficult to learn without spending tons of time on learning the process. It does appear to have a glued binding (in the hardback edition, at least). All in all, I did find it to be a good, solid product.
