Keith Duff5 Stars Out Of 5Wonderful note taking Bible. Plenty of room to interact with the text.September 1, 2017Keith DuffQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5Wow - this is a fabulous Bible.
The "large print" is just right for me. It's far from large, but it's a good reading size. (Very similar to the size of text in a standard book - maybe a point smaller.)
The pages are thick enough that pencil does not bleed through and it's no problem to erase and try again. Pen does bleed through, so I'm not using them. Wet highlighters bleed through a bit, but not problematic. I'm sure dry highlighters are totally fine.
The lines in the margin... I didn't want them. But really, now that I'm using it, I like the notes and prefer them. Taking notes with the lines helps keep my notes more orderly. If I were artistic and liked to draw as my method of journaling, this would be annoying. But since I am a note taker, this has actually worked out to my benefit.
Single column - is wonderful. Far better to have one column for notes and one column of text. Many journal bibles have two columns of text. How do you connect notes from the wide margin to the text then?
Durability - I purchased the leather version and am SO appreciative of the flap that protects the pages. I don't use the leather strap to tie it closed, but the flap is great and it does protect it nicely. VERY important for a long term Bible. I guess the alternative with a standard Bible is to buy a Bible case - that protects it even better, but I really like this.
Writing - the Bible binding is flexible and allows it to lay flat, which is important for note taking.
Summary - I'm a huge fan of this Bible. It's large and expensive (the two negatives) but worth it!
CalBears653 Stars Out Of 5A great single column journaling Bible and a couple of suggestions to improveFebruary 28, 2017CalBears65Quality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 3The "large print" is hardly large print but is also what the eyes can get used to and handle. I initially had purchased the "non large print" edition and it had the desired wide columns with no lines. Because of the very small PT type, I returned it for the "large print" edition. I'm pleased but think it can be improved by: 1. Removing the lines on the columns next to the text and, 2. Removing the leather imprint on the sp;ine ("Single Column Journaling Bible," which I find a bit tacky, and simply shortening the imprint to "BIBLE" or ESV BIBLE. The Bible is excellent and, in my opinion, would be even better with these two adjustments. I'd recommend, with these two caveats.
