This review is for the TruTone black/brown.

This bible is printed in China. I was hoping it wasn't because there had been many wuality problems with them. however, the quality isnt bad but not the quality my crossway study bible is that was printed in the United States. There was gold glitter everywhere from the guilding process, the paper doesnt feel as nice, and the printing of leters are super black almost bold like. So, I eould put this in the $30-$40 quality and not the original price in the $80's. however, the info and pictures and refrences are a breath of fresh air and pops it to life. For that reason alone I would give it 5 stars. as for the quality, I would give it a 3 star. so, thats why I give it a 4 star rating. would I recomend this one? No, I would recommend getting the ones straight from crossway if quality is what you desire. if you want just the info and don't want the digital, then yes, go for it.

The quality of this bible seems good. Leather & Smyth sewn, paper is Thin Coated (36gsm) according to the Colophon. I do not know what that means but the paper does not feel cheap to me.

I also find the bible, references and the notes readable. That is a plus over a lot of Crossway-ESV bibles I have bought in the past. (The ESV Gospel Transformation Bible is a similar easy on the eyes bible) I think Crossway is finally getting the message people will spend more for a quality bible they can read.

The Study Bible may be a little big to take to church. It is about the size of study bibles around 15 years ago before they became "super" bibles. That said there is just enough quality charts, maps, notes and pictures to let you dig without totally distracting you from the text. This study bible is not just about archaeology but gives you historical, geographical and cultural context that helps you observe what you read. My only two disappointments are that I expected more from the book introductions and would like another half inch on the margins for notes.

This Bible has 2023 pages, not 2624. I look at study Bibles with page numbers near 3000 to buy.

This Bible has unexpected gold, glittery page gilding. It is beautiful, but I have glitter on my fingers.

"Product Information" section on Christian Book website lacks thickness measurements. For anyone who wants to know for their Bible cover, this Bible is 1.8" thick. And 6.8" width from spine to cover edge (not 6.5"). It will fit in Large Economy Bible Cover that CB typically sells for $6.99, though.

Being my first TruTone, I was worried it would feel weird. But it is excellent material for now (better than my imitation leather HSCB I can see fading after a month and a half).

The material inside is what I expected-- notes about archeology and little pictures here and there. Not humongous, multiple page essays like the NASB Founders' Bible. Font is nice-- dark black and round not skinny. Normal Bible page thickness with seeing bleeding of other side's font.
