This Bible has 2023 pages, not 2624. I look at study Bibles with page numbers near 3000 to buy.

This Bible has unexpected gold, glittery page gilding. It is beautiful, but I have glitter on my fingers.

"Product Information" section on Christian Book website lacks thickness measurements. For anyone who wants to know for their Bible cover, this Bible is 1.8" thick. And 6.8" width from spine to cover edge (not 6.5"). It will fit in Large Economy Bible Cover that CB typically sells for $6.99, though.

Being my first TruTone, I was worried it would feel weird. But it is excellent material for now (better than my imitation leather HSCB I can see fading after a month and a half).

The material inside is what I expected-- notes about archeology and little pictures here and there. Not humongous, multiple page essays like the NASB Founders' Bible. Font is nice-- dark black and round not skinny. Normal Bible page thickness with seeing bleeding of other side's font.

Received a copy of the Crossway ESV Archaeology Hard-Cover Edition for review. My 1st impressions are that I really like the cover design. The cardboard they use for the hardcover is sturdy. However the copy I received was sent in a very loose cardboard box and one of the corners of the bible was dinged up pretty good.

Anyway the bible layout is lovely! Size of the font is excellent for my eyes and the font is very easy to read. Nice that this bible really allows more of the text to just be what it is instead of trying to help you every verse (which I prefer). The "History of the OT" and "History of the NT" sections are fantastic and nice to get more of a historical / anthropological / archaeological focus provided than the standard study bible helps. The sections on the "Between the OT & NT History" and concluding helps after Revelation are also great resources. The paper also is a little thicker than some study bibles which is great! I also really appreciate that the "red letter" option for Jesus is not included in the formatting of the New Testament.

A few gripes but I would have really appreciated having some marker placement with a ribbon. I've really appreciated some study bibles that have 2 ribbons for OT / NT sections when you are studying and need to hold your place. Also where the reading size for the text is great the footnote sizing is really really really tiny. I'm glad I just got new glasses, or I couldn't read it.

Overall Crossway never disappoints!!! This is a wonderful study bible that will allow those Indiana Jones fans of Scripture to get lost in the history / archaeology / anthropology of God's Word without the intention of this bible's designed for the focus of these disciplines to get in the way. For those persons who just want to know a little or a lot more about what was going on with people / places / etc. during the time Scripture was being written this is a real dandy resource! I would recommend this to anyone who would enjoy and benefit from knowing a bit more of God's Word through this form of study and academic discipline.

Thanks Crossway! Please keep doing what you are doing and being authentic to the Word of God!

I was needing a study Bible that would bring the Word to life, and this Archaeology study Bible is just what I was looking for! Practical notes on every page, lots of photos, maps and charts along with the easy to read ESV are making my personal devotion time a real pleasure! I love the font & paper, and the Trutone binding feels soft, flexible and sturdy. This Bible even has a good sized concordance & glossary. A very comprehensive & well thought out Bible!

This review is for the hardcover edition which is a cream/tan color and has Archaeology Study Bible in gold lettering. It has a sewn binding which allows the Bible to lay flat. It does not come with a ribbon marker which I would love to have seen included but that is ok cause most hardcover editions do not come with one.

The paper and print quality is fantastic, the font is a 9pt and the study notes are a 8pt. The pages have a very nice layout and contain many in text maps, charts, timelines and full color photos. I really like seeing the photographs of the ruins of Biblical lands and artifacts that have been found which all help to prove the validity of the Bible. I especially enjoyed the article and photos regarding the Dead Sea Scrolls which shows a beautiful photo of one of the caves as well as one of the scroll jars as well as one of the papyri that was found.

I would highly recommend this Bible for any Bible student and every Christian. You should have this edition in your library. Crossway has done an amazing job on this Bible and I do not think you could go wrong in purchasing one for yourself or to give as a gift.

I must say that initially I was not as impressed with this Bible because I was comparing the contents to the NIV Archaeological Study Bible which I have and it has a lot more articles in it and a lot more photos, after spending a few days with the ESV Archaeology Study Bible I realized that the print quality of the text and double column format was what I preferred more so this one will get more use than my other one.

I received this Bible from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

So far it's more than i expected. What's not to like?! It could very well be my all time favorite. For of you who want to add this to your library of bibles, highly recommended. Makes a great gift any time of the year as well.
