Prepare your child for a lifetime of reading with Savvas’ new Foundational Reading program. Designed to provide a strong framework for reading success, this mixed print and digital curriculum targets phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, high frequency decodable and sight words, and concepts of print in mini-lessons that can take between 15 to 20 minutes a day for supplemental use or longer if you want to use it as your primary reading curriculum. Each teacher-led, scripted mini-lesson consists of three steps that include multi-sensory options, teacher modeling of skills, and plenty of practice with both decodable foldable readers contained in the Student Worktext and with print and digital worksheets and games. In the decodable, foldable readers that students tear out and fold, then write in and color, they will practice newly learned phonics skills and high frequency words as they read nonfiction and fiction at their level. The innovative “Concepts of Print” feature introduces youngsters to the structure and design of books, such as what an author is, how print in a book is designed for being read, where to start and stop reading on a page, and more – concepts that we take for granted. Scheduled review lessons refresh students’ focus on skills and offer additional practice. Grade 2.
