Bet5 Stars Out Of 5Happily Astounded!December 13, 2016BetQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I bought this Bible a while ago as an ESV translation. I was rewarded with a lot more.
It's a pretty Bible, with a pleasing layout, set up in regular book form which I find makes reading easier, without the breaks in the text commonly found in two column Bibles. It's comfortable to hold and read.
What sets it apart is it's POV (point of view) as a teaching tool.
I have other study Bibles, and I certainly read them, but I especially value using this Bible when beginning to read a book or chapter, getting a literary overview, and then going back to study.
I often felt I was missing out when not taking in the whole of a section before I tried to understand it in more detail, and the introductions and commentaries in this Bible set you up to appreciate what you are about to read in a unique way.
People who are interested in the writing and reading process, and who like to see how authors approach readers to make their points, will get a lot out of this Bible.
Each author in the Bible had his own way of presenting the Word, using different stylistic techniques. This Bible's instruction makes us aware of the writing process of the ancient writers, and enriches the way we can read and assimilate the text.
Roberts/w WashingtonAge: Over 65Gender: Male5 Stars Out Of 5Very nice, well bound ESV Bible.October 26, 2016Roberts/w WashingtonAge: Over 65Gender: MaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I have seen several poor reviews on this Bible. I would recommend that you check it out for yourself. I personally find the gold hewed pages, with the black print to be a pleasure to read. I wear bifocals and without them I can't read anything unless the print is very large. This Bible is very easy for me to read with my glasses. The sale price cbd has put on this Bible is one you should take advantage of before they are gone.
may THE LORD bless your study of HIS wonderful WORD.
Pamela4 Stars Out Of 5ESV BibleOctober 5, 2016PamelaQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 3Like thie quality and size. My only complaint is that the verse numbers are so small that they are difficult to read, even with reading glasses.
OdeliaAge: 45-54Gender: Female2 Stars Out Of 5updated reviewOctober 2, 2016OdeliaAge: 45-54Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 3Meets Expectations: 1I love the ESV translation Bible...and I have TRIED sticking with it, but I cannot. what were they thinking with the small print and YELLOW pages. Too hard on my eyes, for someone with astigmatism and Trifocals. This was a gift, but I will be searching for a better ESV copy.
Tennessee bear man5 Stars Out Of 5I love this bibleSeptember 13, 2016Tennessee bear manQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I think the literary notes are the best I have ever read. It helps you understand what the writer is doing . It has very good definitions in the glossary for what the literature means and how the author of each book is using literary methods to communicate Gods word. If people used this literacy method there would be less exaggerations and distortions of meaning of passages. I look forward to reading them every day.
Q: I downloaded a Bible. How do I axccess a specific book,John for example, without scrolling thru the whole Bible?
Accessing specific books will depend on the type of reader you have. In the CBD reader, you can simply scroll down the table-of-contents on the left-hand side of the page and choose the book you want.
