C. K. Barrett (1917-2011) was professor of divinity at Durham University for twenty-five years and was a fellow of the British Academy for fifty years. He authored numerous scholarly articles and books, including The First Epistle to the Corinthians and The Second Epistle to the Corinthians in Black's New Testament Commentary as well as The New Testament Background: Selected Documents.
