Grade K topics include sorting, positions, patterns, numbers to 20, simple fractions, measurement, addition and subtraction, time, money, and graphs.
envision Math's unique tear-n-take tablet worktext provides a workmat and recording space for hands-on, interactive, math learning! The brightly-colored, over-sized workbook measures 11" x 16.5"; students tear out their page, fold it in half, work the problems, and then display or file it. Math concepts are taught step-by-step with sequential illustrations that connect exercises and activities; example illustrations provide visual models to help guide children through abstract concepts. 16 topics with 5-11 lessons in each topic; 1 test and reteaching section for each topic is also included.
The MindPoint Quiz Show CD-ROM is a challenging, interactive multimedia game that will assess your student's understanding, track their performance, and best of all, make learning fun. The single-player mode includes "race the clock" and "challenge the computer" features; multiplayer and team playing options are also included.
The teacher's edition CD-ROM is integral to the program's use. Planning information on the topic is provided, as well as specific lessons. Lesson instructions include a "quick and easy lesson overview" that covers the objective, vocabulary, and materials needed, as well as teaching tips, engagement ideas, and guided practice ideas. Review and assessment sections contains test answers for the end of each lesson. The Printable Features include center activities that support the lesson objective; vocabulary cards; an interactive math story; assessments; and lesson masters that include a problem of the day, quick check for review, re-teaching tools, additional practice problems to support the lesson, and enrichment sheets for further understanding. Each Lesson Master sheet has an annotated and non-annotated version.

Jolene5 Stars Out Of 5Hands-on, technical, aesthetically interestingFebruary 17, 2013JoleneQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I chose this program because I used this with my kindergarten class, and I loved how it is eye catchy for the young ones with the graphics and how it is very hands-on. You do have to print off the teacher's guide from the cd, but considering how much is packed onto that cd, it is a good deal. There are extra practice sheets you can print, hands on activity ideas in the teacher's guide, and more. I do recommend ordering some connecting cubes, pattern blocks (you will want the ones that match the ones in the book that are the typical pattern blocks sold by educational retailers), two-sided counters, and a balance to go with the lessons. These manipulatives are versatile for using in so many different applications throughout your child's homeschooling experience. I did purchase the animation video that goes with this from another source. This shows a short tutorial cartoon video for each lesson that asks thinking questions to teach the concepts of each particular lesson, but your child has as long as they need to answer the question since you have to click the arrow to continue through the video. My son loves the videos. The teacher's edition is scripted too. I usually like using the main leading questions from the teacher's edition. My son really loves this math. I also use a place value chart to count the days of school along with a hundred chart that was marked off with sticky notes that we revealed each day. We are past a hundred now, and between the Envision Math and the place value chart he is excelling and loving math. (He has a deep understanding of place value now too, so I highly recommend having a place value chart with straws to count the days of school too.) This program is very flexible, and easy to offer reinforcement with the extra practice sheets on the cd-rom and hands-on activities.
