In this fictional account, Jenkins tells of a devout Jewish scholar, who after only 3-years in the Arabian wilderness, emerges as the greatest Christian theologian in history. This novel explains how, after supervising the death of Jesus’s disciples, Paul would be moved to effectively conquer the Roman Empire with a message about a Jewish man named Jesus? You’ll be captured by the shocking "thorn in the flesh" that burdened Paul’s heart? Empire’s End will cause you to rethink whether Paul ever experienced the love of a woman or the embrace of a child? Read on…

I loved it! Am waiting for his next series! I have read several of his books including the Left Behind series. I particularly like the way he addressed Paul's thorn in the side issue. Sometimes emotional concerns are as damaging as physical ones.

Have you ever wondered what Paul did during the three years after his Damascus road experience? Jerry Jenkins, in his latest novel, "Empire's End", fills out what the Bible only alludes to in both Acts and Galatians about Paul of Tarus' journey from prosecutor to proclaimer. Jenkins takes artistic liberty to flesh out the man Jesus invited to make a 180 degree turn in his theology. I had no problem with Jenkins using his God-given talent to fictionally bring to life a man I've long wanted to know more about. Jenkins shows us how God may have taught Paul all that he was able to teach us through his letters.

Jerry Jenkins gives us a fictional account of what the thorn in Pauls side was. It was plausible and right up the alley of a God who teaches us about love, loss and sacrifice.

One way I gage a novels effectiveness is the adherence to what is in the Bible. Jenkins brings to life characters mentioned once or twice with back stories that remain true to what the Bible does say about them.

I loved this book and was sorry to see it end.

If you want to know what happens when you blend years of extraordinary novel writing with a gripping subject matter of perhaps the world's most influential human being (Saul of Tarsus/the Apostle Paul), read "Empire's End," by Jerry Jenkins.

Jenkins has woven actual Scripture passages into much of the dialogue so skillfully that unless you are extremely familiar with the Bible, you might miss them and just assume they are part of Jenkins' page-turning fertile imagination.

Where he inserts creative possibilities regarding the details of Paul's life, I found myself (as a former seminarian) thinking, "Even though the Bible is silent on the details of those particular matters, they actually could have happened that way."

This historical novel fleshes out the Biblical facts by creatively combining historical data with a touching love story that makes the great Apostle come to life. In the midst of it all, Jenkins keeps the focus on Jesus Christ and how God the Son lived His life through such a willing, committed vessel at the Apostle Paul.

I was informed, inspired, and challenged to emulate the godly lives that Jenkins sprinkles throughout the book in such a winsome manner. This book is some of Jenkins' best work, and that's saying a lot. You will find the well-crafted "Empire's End" a pleasure to read and be inspired at the same time. Bravo!

"Empire's End" or as it is sometimes called on sites "I, Paul" by Jerry B Jenkins is the adult companion book to "I, Saul", a youth historical fiction about the Apostle Paul. Though Paul wrote a huge chunk of the New Testament, little is known of his personal life. In this fictional telling, Jenkins fills in the gaps starting with the horrors that Saul inflicted on the people of The Way and following him through his conversion and writings.

The story starts off in an advanced writing style that might seem hard to follow for some, but the point is to catch up the reader with the politics of the times. Following the Preamble, the writing takes a more readable fashion so that the reader can become more involved with the storyline. Jenkins is one of the infamous duo who wrote "Left Behind" yet this is the first book of his I have read. He is a brilliant writer, who writes with an intelligent fashion, yet can keep the reader interested without making it hard to understand. I have always wondered how Christians found the 'turning a new leaf' of Paul to be authentic. I don't think I would have believed him until he proved himself. I don't think I would have forgiven him. How many times have I lost something that could have been good because I wouldn't forgive? He takes Paul's story and turns it into not only a thinker, but an adventure story. I would recommend this to anyone, not just Christians as a good thriller.
