This is such a sweet, delightful children's book that gives children (and adults) a chance to discover the true meaning of Easter. Illustrated with beautiful, bright, colorful pictures, it gives scriptures throughout with a riddle to go with it. Three children full of excitement about an upcoming Easter egg hunt at church are a bit rambunctious so the parents send them up to the attic to find a board game to play. Instead they find a glowing egg with a message inside. They are magically transported to several different locations looking for a treasure. Each child has a fault that is addressed at each location and a corresponding scripture that relates to that particular problem. Fear, wanting to be the leader, and not listening to advice. At the end of their adventure they realize the real true treasure is Jesus and what He did for all of us on the cross. Later that evening after being transported back to the attic, they leave for the church egg hunt. The parents can't believe what a change in the children's behavior from earlier that day. A Miracle they call it. Jesus can change lives and the Bible is a treasure in itself. A great gift to give a child for Easter!

I was very pleasantly surprised by the beautiful, visually appealing drawings, the unexpected journeys, and clear gospel presentation of this book. Darcie Cobos has written The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure with 5- 12 year olds in mind. However, this is a story that requires the full family, Sunday School group, or mid-week group participation. The colorful, animated pictures and exciting, imaginative story will draw in the kiddos. As each glowing egg in the story is found, there is either a Bible verse on a scroll or a clue as to the next location the children must visit. The children discover that the Bible verses help them live out needed truths in their lives, "Be strong and courageous," "Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to advice." Eventually the children discover the light of the eggs, representing the light of Jesus, has led them to find the truth of Jesus Himself, and they are sent back with renewed attitudes to share His love and the gospel with others.

There is a very clear gospel emphasis here wrapped up in the fun of an Easter egg hunt story. Excellent for focusing your children on the true meaning of Easter. If you buy the book, I would highly recommend also buying the glow in the dark Easter eggs, that can be filled with Easter stickers, as well as little scrolls with Bible verses, all also available. Having received the whole kit, I can assure the little ones there would also be room for coins or candy in the eggs as well! If you choose this activity for a larger group, you may want the DVD version of the story, which I also received. With the same animated characters as the book, the video is very engaging! Further helps, like coloring sheets or a program guide are also available through egglo entertainment's website.

I received my Egglo kit from bookfun.org in exchange for an honest review. I can't wait to see how it works!

"The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure" by Darcie Cobos is a fun, adventurous story about Easter. The REAL meaning of Easter! It is about family time, playing together, learning from others, and going on an Easter egg hunt.

The main characters are three children, two siblings and a cousin. After mom chases them out of the kitchen they go to the attic to find a board game to play, but instead, they find a glowing Easter egg. When they all touch it at the same time it takes them on a journey where they get a scripture verse and a mini lesson.

During their travels the children learn about listening to each other and listening to God. This is a bit of a long story, so I doubt a toddler would sit through it, but it seems like it would be great for 5 to 10 year olds. The pictures are colorful and entertaining and the story is creative and enjoyable.

I received this book from The Book Club Network in exchange for my honest review.
