I have an ebook copy of this novel, however, I actually ended up listening to the audio book version of the story and it was fantastic. I really enjoyed the narrator and the plot itself kept me on my toes.

Be prepared, as I was, going into this novel that one mystery will be solved by the end of the book, yet there will be some things left unanswered to be continued in the future books in the series. Since I knew this, I was ready for that to happen. If I had not known it before hand, I would have been very shocked when the story ended.

I loved the second chance at love aspect of the story. Jon and Annie were definitely still attracted to each other and it was clear that their hearts still longed for each other. Annie's daughter, Kylie, frustrated me a lot. I know that she had been through a great deal of trauma in the last couple of years with losing her father and grandparents, yet she was allowed to be incredibly rude to Jon over and over again. I am hopeful that her behavior will improve in future stories.

The suspense and danger, along with the search for what really happened to the girls who were the focus of the cold case, was fascinating! Many nerve wracking moments in there! I am anxiously looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Return to Rock Harbor with Annie Pederson, a woman haunted by the kidnapping of her little sister, she is now a single mom raising her daughter as a law enforcement ranger and manager of the Tremolo Resort and Marina.

A chilling return to Rock Harbor, full of familiar faces and second chances. Annie is a hardworking and compassionate woman trying her best to raise her daughter, while keeping her head above water with all of her responsibilities. But when bodies begin showing up on her resort, cold cases resurface.

Annie is a capable woman, strong and kind, she wants the best for her young daughter, and is thrown when former flame Jon comes back to town. I like how Jon takes things in stride taking time to understand Annie's side of things and how his action hurts her in the past. He is also very thoughtful and anticipates her needs. And is willing to be patient, especially with her daughter.

Overall, a fast paced read with many twists along the way, suspenseful, with likable characters. A great start to a new series!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

"Normal life is not ever perfect. What kind of people would we be if God never allowed our faith to be tested? Adversity makes us stronger. I'm sorry you had such bad things happen so early in life, but God never wastes these kind of things in our lives. Bad things are never permanent, but neither are happy times. Life changes. It's supposed to."

I enjoyed this return to Rock Harbor. Since I had not "visited" this fictional town in awhile, catching up took some time. I do think that the author did a good job of summarizing the town's characters without feeling like the plot turned into a slow recap.

This book has it all small-town camaraderie, suspense and romance along with faith. When characters have been connected since childhood, there seems to be a bit stronger of a connection. Their relationship seems more enjoyable.

Annie's perspective on life is one we can all learn from. She could be bitter because of what has happened to her. Instead, she recognizes that God is the one that she needs to trust despite what is happening around her.

I did not guess who the guilty party in this title was. There was plenty of action. And for those who have enjoyed the search and rescue books by Coble, the handlers and their dogs return. Overall, I thought it was a good plot.

I did read a copy of this book through NetGalley. I wanted to read and review it. All opinions are my own.

P.S. The ending makes it clear that there will be another book in this series. So, if you are hoping everything will be wrapped up, you will be disappointed. I, for one, will be looking forward to reading the next book!

Throughout the story, loons seem to play a role, even to the naming of the marina and resort where the heroine lives, and where much of the action takes place. However, every time Annie heard the call of a loon, she was drawn back to the night her sister disappeared twenty-four years earlier. Many of us would have been looking for the first opportunity to move away from a place where the sound of loons calling out was a frequent reminder of such a horrible experience. To the contrary, Annie broke up with her fianc when he moved a great distance away because she did not want to leave her hometown. Go figure that one out. Now, nine years later, he is back in town to get a cabin belonging to his father ready to sell. And the bodies of two teenage girls who went missing just before he left are suddenly discovered. Rock Harbor starts to sound like a very bad place to live as another body is found in Lake Superior right by the marina. The author continues to layer on the suspense and action as the book progresses. I found it difficult to find a place to stop when it was time to eat or sleep. Annie's daughter Kylie is about the same age her sister was when she disappeared. She is a little sweetheart, at least most of the time. As a young widow trying to raise Kylie on her own, Annie has her hands full with a fulltime job and the responsibility of running the marina and resort. She certainly does not need all of the other interruptions that continue to pop up, such as attempts to take her life. I enjoyed the way the author wove so many facets into the story. I am looking forward to another story.

I loved the Rock Harbor series that Ms. Coble wrote previously, so I was super excited to return there in this series. This series focuses on Annie Pederson. Annie had a traumatic childhood and that continued into adulthood. Her circumstances led her to become a law enforcement ranger. After discovering a dead body, she seeks to figure out what happened. Besides the suspense, the book has a romantic aspect as well. As usual, this book is a nail-biting page turner. Once you start this book, you will want to continue to read until you finish it. I love how her books have you guessing and trying to figure out what will occur. There are always several plot twists that will leave readers guessing what will happen next. I highly recommend this book and know you will not be disappointed! I can not wait to read the next book in this series!***I was given a free electronic copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review. This is my honest opinion. Even though I received this copy free, I have purchased her books before.
