vics495485 Stars Out Of 5Loved it!December 14, 2019vics49548Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5As far as I'm concerned, author Jaime Jo Wright has become the premiere writer of suspenseful time slip stories. This is her best to date!
The characters in this book are very human with all the flaws that go along with that. The spiritual aspects are "normal"; not pushed in any way. Wright deals with a few touchy subjects and does it gracefully.
While eerie, I could read this book after dark, which I can't with her others. Thrilling and goose-bumping raising with all the twists and turns, I couldn't read fast enough to find out who dun it. Fascinating, uncanny, yet with forgiveness and even a light romance, I highly recommend Echoes Among the Stones be added to your library.
I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.
SusanPMichiganAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Worth the 5 stars!December 13, 2019SusanPMichiganAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Man oh man, this author knows how to wring the emotions from you and I love her stories because of this. Once again she loads up the mystery, mayhem, suspense and all around page-turning dialogue and action. One era is a town emotionally war-torn and the next era is current ramifications of all that. Family connections with broken and suffering characters just reminds me we all have stories and all need to heal. I loved the cemetery bits and pieces because I adore exploring them and reading stories on headstones. This just proves there are stories behind each one! Oh the anguish of unsolved murders, broken family relationships, and the healing of new love. This is a must read and is a bookshelf keeper.
Amy CVAAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Echoes Among the StonesDecember 13, 2019Amy CVAAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Echoes Among the Stones by Jaime Jo Wright is by far among one of my top favorites I have read this year. I love time slip novels and this one does not disappoint. It is so full of suspense; I was left hanging to "who did it" up until the last few pages. I changed my mind so many times who it was and still did not get it right. It was definitely not what I predicted at all. How in the world did Jaime come up with this mystery? She did a great job keeping me engaged with the book throughout.
I would give Echoes Among the Stones one hundred stars if I could. What a fabulous book! Readers definitely do not want to miss this one. I highly recommend it!
I received this book from the author, but was not required to write a review. This review is 100% my own honest opinion
KavRCanadaGender: female5 Stars Out Of 5An indescribably awesome novelDecember 12, 2019KavRCanadaGender: femaleI'm in a post-read I-can't-believe-that-happened / I-didn't-see-that-coming daze. Accompanied by a serious case of the 'boohoo-it's-all-over blues. In short -- I am stupefied so if this review doesn't make sense blame Jaime Jo Wright not me! :-)
First -- the dual timeline -- honestly, this author knows how to make it work! The pacing between the present and the past -- the way she builds both storylines until they explode in a frenzy of 'aha' moments that rocked my reading socks right off. Phew! And the way she jumps from 1946 to 2019, always leaving me hanging. I'd be like "Nooooo, you can't leave it there!" as I recalibrated my head and heart into another time frame only to be sucked in and then -- wham -- we're time traveling again. Blissfully discombobulated, that was me the whole read.
The mystery is so well done. Complex and confusing and a tad creepy. I had more theories than there were chapters in the book! LOL In the end, this armchair sleuth got it partially right. But I was also flabbergasted by certain revelations.
I didn't take to either heroine immediately. They both had some prickly characteristics that kept me at arms' length. It wasn't long before I realized they were deliberately holding back -- barricading their hearts behind protective walls to stave off further hurt. And protect themselves from grief.
And here's what really surprised me about this novel -- it is a study of grief. How it inspires action...or inaction. How it takes hostages. Suppresses joy. Binds hope. And most importantly, how grace can burst open grief's prison. So many stunning passages. Profound. Words I really took to heart. I listened to the audible edition so I don't have any quotes to share here but you can be sure I'll be buying a paperback copy so I have the words in print to cherish.
An indescribably awesome novel that belongs on keeper shelves everywhere!
