In Eat This and Live for Kids, Dr. Don Colbert provides a road map to help parents navigate the often-treacherous territory of feeding their children, from infants to toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary aged children. Based on the key principles for healthy eating in Dr. Colberts New York Times best seller, The Seven Pillars of Health, this practical guidebook for parents includes "Dr. Colbert Approved" foods and restaurant menu choices, along with helpful tips, charts, and nutrition information that will make it easier for you to raise healthy kids.
Don Colbert, MD, is board-certified in family practice and anti-aging medicine. He has also received extensive training in nutritional and preventative medicine, and he has helped millions of people to discover the joy of living in divine health. In addition to speaking at conferences, he is the author of the New York Times best-selling books Dr. Colberts "I Can Do This" Diet and The Seven Pillars of Health, along with best sellers Toxic Relief, the Bible Cure series, Living in Divine Health, Deadly Emotions, and What Would Jesus Eat?
debbAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Fantastic and insightfulJune 30, 2017debbAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0Lots of Great info, even for adults!!! I wish there were something like this when I was raising my family. I bought for my grandkids, and I read it first before passing onto my daughter. It does not disappoint if you are serious about making healthy choices.
momof45 Stars Out Of 5solid bookMay 17, 2017momof4Quality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I really don't know what people were complaining about. It was a good book, offering a lot of good tips on feeding your children well.
HSabiding5 Stars Out Of 5Eat This and Live for KidsAugust 22, 2016HSabidingQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I found this book extremely helpful and wish it had been available when my children were small. These two doctors (a family practice doctor and a pediatrician) who have 60+ years of experience between them offer their years of experience as MDs and using homeopathic methods when possible.
For those looking for a sensible vaccine schedule, here it is. Trying to wade through all the food choices? They offer guidance with years of clinical experience.
This book would also be a great gift for parents.
not what i was looking for3 Stars Out Of 5A guide for parentsFebruary 23, 2016not what i was looking forQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 2This is a good book. I had read Seven Pillars of Health and was looking for a kids version that I could read with my child. This was not it. So a little dissappointed simply because my expectations was something else. Still helpful.
Emily2 Stars Out Of 5more of a product guide instead of a earing guideFebruary 14, 2016EmilyQuality: 5Value: 3Meets Expectations: 1yes it talks about nutrients absorbed. yes it talks about living food (vegetables) and dead food (processed chemical laden foods)
but it focused a lot more attention on breastfeeding vs formula feeding. what types of water to BUY. kinds of supplements to give them.
Also the book talks about eating a low fat plant based diet. It says that bananas, coconut oil, and dried fruit just to name a few that cause inflamation. These authors are very off in selling this to parents as a guide to help their kids eat well.
There are no meal plan ideas or recipes. No examples of how to eat this way other than eat a plant based diet. I will keep the book and reread it hoping I missed something but I doubt I did. I read reviews online of this book after I bought/read it and I saw I'm not the only mom frustrated with the book.
I don't recommend this book because it doesn't seem like anything more than colorfully, well laid out collection online articles rather than a guide to feeding our children.
