justcallmegrammy5 Stars Out Of 5Dwell WellApril 17, 2019justcallmegrammyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Melissa Michaels of The Inspired Room has long been one of my go-to's for home decorating inspiration. Her new book Dwelling provides so much more. This is not primarily a book of decorating ideas but rather a beautifully written resource filled with practical tips and personal stories that help guide the reader to think about how to "dwell well". It is packed with inspiration and tools to shape a workable plan to keep body, soul, and home well-nourished. The book itself is quite lovely... I recommend a hard copy.

This is not the first book of Melissa's I have had the pleasure of reading and sharing about, however this one is my favorite of hers!! Looking through the book, there are chapters about inviting (welcoming others), choices , creating a refuge (we all need a place of quiet and safety to go to at times), loveliness (and I do like beautiful things), simplifying (which I am all for!!), gathering together (creating a space for you, your family, and others), nourishing our minds, body, and spirit! Take a look at the book and a few from the inside. I think you will agree, it is beautiful and also encouraging!!
This book isn't just about homes, but also about bodies, how we live our lives. I read a lot and in many of the homeschool articles/books I read, they write about atmosphere and how it relates to learning. I have to agree, our environments can affect us in many ways. Not only that but I think about what God desires and am I honoring Him through my life in all areas, yes the places we dwell in, home and body!? What is the atmosphere of my heart like? What does it focus on? We may not have pretty things or even things to create a space of beauty. As Melissa says, "We already have everything we need to savor each moment our soul, heart, mind, senses, two hands, and the people in front of us." We can choose how to look at things, either through negativity or positivity, either through grumbling or thankfulness, either through falsehoods or what is true. May we not waste our places or our lives, we have a choice everyday in how we will act, use our time, and/or focus on.
That is what this book is about and more. You will find encouragement, suggestions, questions to ponder on, inspiring quotes, Scripture, recipes, etc
