Reading "Drawing Near to the Heart of God" was a profound time of stilling the speed of the world around me and learning to listen for the voice of God - knowing His presence.

Cynthia Heald begins this instruction by showing what our heart and spirit requirements are to draw closer to our Father God. It's important that we trust him to take care of us. "To walk by faith is to allow the Lord to choose the way for us, and then to TRUST HIM with whatever lies ahead." "Giving up our right to be right is extremely difficult. It's hard to trust (the path we don't see) when what we see is so clear."

She delights us in showing how his boundless grace and love, his goodness and his abundant comfort are meant for each one of us - his children. He gives us exactly what we need in every circumstance. "Our willingness to endure is an essential that we bring to our journey - but the ability to endure is a gift from the Lord." "He simply asks us to say yes to Him." "...LET God transform you..."

The book concludes by reminding us to enjoy this earthly journey - a journey of discovery, or deepening faith and trust, of resting in God no matter how chaotic the world around us. In finding our calm and succor in God, He will make us "nourishment for other people" - a "ministry of consolation." "When we are consistently walking with the Lord and allowing the Holy Spirit to control us, precious fruit will be produced."

Cynthia made it all so real; I hated to finish reading this book. It's a good one to reread - renewing and encouraging and inspiring.
