We all know portion control and exercise go hand-in-hand, but it's the FOODS that we should eat and those to avoid that complete this plan. I can still eat my favorite foods if I want, but found new favorites and they are well within the guidelines. Keeping track of Low-Gylcemic foods along with proper proteins and fats -- and the key for me is eating every 3-3-1/2 hours. That did it. No more hunger, which led to an appetite for a specific food. No counting calories. Oh, and, FIBER, which I never got enough of is now what I reach for first. I'm on my way to the last 30 lbs. and can express enough how this book is so simple, satisfying and explains why we did what we did, how metabolism works, and so on. I could not end this review without saying, go on and get the Seven Pillars of Health, it's all you need to complete your health library. By the way, my three Border Collies LOVE this book, too. We now go for a daily walk, key word DAILY, which puts a smile on their face. Thanks, Dr. Colbert!
