Product Description

Finding time for devotions with God isn't always easy. But what if you could attach something you know you should do, to something you already do? You spend at least five minutes sitting on the toilet every day, right? What if you used that time to do devotions?

Don't Forget to Flush is geared toward instigating the habit of a devotional routine in kids ages 9 to 12 years old. Written from the perspective of a snarky preteen boy, this devotional will make you think, laugh, and connect with God all while sitting on the toilet. Don't Forget to Flush contains 99 devotions that connect ordinary bathroom items to faith-filled practices and character building ideas to take beyond the bathroom into everyday life.

Kevin and Britta Alton have spent two decades advocating for and ministering to families and children of all ages. Kevin is the co-creator of Youthworker Circuit and a content curator for the Science for Youth Ministry project. He has written, co-authored, and contributed to several books including, The Whirl Story Bible, God's Graffiti Devotional, Faith Forward Volume 2, and SENT, Youth Study Book. Britta loves finding ways to assist, protect and build strong character through vocation or volunteerism. They live happily in the countryside with their two wonderful boys near Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Editorial Reviews

"Kevin and Britta Alton turn daily devotions on their head with this lively book, written especially for guys at the age where a little privacy matters. Some faiths don't mix holy reading with bodily functions, but Christianity insists that no closed door can keep God out. Don't Forget to Flush is a daily reminder that God is with us even in the crappiest of places." --Kenda Creasy Dean, pastor, professor of Youth, Church and Culture, Princeton Theological Seminary, and author of Almost Christian: What the Faith of Our Teenagers Is Telling the American Church...

"I promise you that if you leave this book in the bathroom, your tween will absolutely read it. It's written from the perspective of a snarky preteen boy, and guys, it's funny (and good!)." --Play Eat Grow Blog

"I've always said that parenting is so easy in the theoretical, and so hard in practice. That's why we all need this book! Don't Forget to Flush is both fun and formative. I think your kids will enjoy it, and I'm sure you'll love it. It promises to open up many conversations between you and your child about faith." --Andrew Root, Author of The Grace of Dogs: A boy, a Black Lab, and Father's Search for the Canine Soul

"Don't Forget to Flush is the Diary of a Wimpy Kid of devotionals. Each entry is simple and succinct yet full of humor and inspiration to help encourage a preteen in their spiritual growth. Preteens (and people of all ages) will find themselves going to the bathroom more often, just so they can keep reading! Don't Forget to Flush encourages preteens to pray and reflect on their faith as part of their daily rhythms and routines. And if a preteen can find God while they're going to the bathroom, they can probably find God anywhere and everywhere!" --Jim Keat, Associate Minister at The Riverside Church, product developer for Connect, and founding member of FourFiveSix

"What a relief to find this kind of daily devotional. Kevin and Britta use humor, story, and a deep, responsible theology to inspire readers to get to the bottom of scripture. You're in for a good clean read!" --Christ Wilterdink, Director, Young Peoples' Ministries Development, The United Methodist Church

"Let's face it. Most devotional books for young teens are written so that only the most devoted Hermione Grangers of Sunday School would even consider picking them up. But Don't Forget to Flush puts inspiring, accessible, faith-building content in the very space where young people are guaranteed to be spending time each day. Easily digestible chapters, just the right amount of off-color, and a little silliness tucked into the bottom of each make this the kind of book that even kids who "hate to read" just might pick up. I want to start giving this book to every confirmation student I know!" --Mark DeVries, Permissionary with Ministry Incubators, author of Sustainable Youth Ministry, and founder of Ministry Architects
