Tell us a little about yourself. I have been in ministry for over 32 years; 22 at the same church. I am a single father of four adult children, two of whom are deaf. I have a Masters and Doctorate in Ministry and a Masters in Marriage, Family, & Child counseling.
What was your motivation behind this project? Having served for many years in many contexts, I was heartbroken to see great servants burn out and lose their joy of serving God. My theme verse is John 10:10b "I came that you might have life and have it more abundantly". So I believe that if we are not experiencing the abundant life, we are missing something. I want to help people experience that abundant life while serving God.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope they will come to a better understanding of who they are and how that impacts where and how they might serve God. I hope they will find joy in serving.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I was personally challenged to take better care of myself so that I would have a healthier {physically, spiritually, and emotionally} self to present to God as a "living" sacrifice as opposed to an "almost dead" sacrifice.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? This may seem trite, but Jesus as I saw how He set boundaries, how He cared for Himself, how He accepted ministry from others, etc. He is to be our model, but I had only looked at Him as the suffering servant.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: This book is intended to be a journey that you don't take alone and it will require work if you are to benefit from it.
