teaching4MOAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5More to learn than the Kinder bookApril 7, 2014teaching4MOAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I just recently ordered this book for my daughter to begin next year. However, she already completed her K book so we will start into this book this year.
As I started to look through the book it seemed to contain many fewer pages than the K book, however, there really is much more practice, and more concepts introduced.
Additions to this book not in the kinder:
more prewriting practice
several pages on proper letter structure
review on letters and on words is lengthier
evaluation following each review
more word practice per letter from the beginning
a reading and writing section with comprehension (several pages)
punctuation introduced with capital letters
second half of book has sentence copying
the words for each letter are different in the 1 book than K
additional activities introduced are writing friendly letter, make a bookmark, and fill out a library card.
The letters are not presented in alpha order, but are in the same order as the K book.
There is also a number section in the middle of the book.
I feel the content is just perfect for 1st grade and is very focused on letter writing. The additions are simply to show the learned letter within words.
This book is more expensive than other choices, but my opinoin is D'Nealian is easy to teach and then easy to transition into cursive handwriting.
Jodi T.NC5 Stars Out Of 5September 9, 2010Jodi T.NCAbsolutely the BEST handwriting workbook I have found! It was so much easier for my daughter, who was having problems with the "ball and stick" method. This is the most common-sense approach to handwriting I've seen! Well worth the purchase price.

mom of 45 Stars Out Of 5November 20, 2009mom of 4I really liked this style of writing. Looks much mor elegant the block writing. Also this was great for my 5 year old who was confusing her 'b' and 'd'. Not anymore.
