Now repackaged for the next generation of Christians, Discipline: The Glad Surrender shows readers how to

-discipline the mind, body, possessions, time, and feelings
-overcome anxiety
-change poor habits and attitudes
-trust God in times of trial and hardship
-let Christ have control in all areas of life

Elliot masterfully and gently takes readers through Scripture, personal stories, and lovely observations of the world around her in order to help them discover the understanding that our fulfillment as human beings depends on our answer to God's call to obedience.

This book, besides the bible, has been one of the greatest help throughout my walk with God. The first time I read it, I didn't really understand it. However, I recently read it again and the words just jumped off the page! I totally understood the first three chapters(which had been a meaningless waste of paper at first) I realized that she's trying to show you what discipline is and how it works. Also, I love how much scipture she puts in this book, it is just filled with it! Again, beside the bible, this book has helped me grow in my walk with God! Read it, you won't regret it!

I bought the book because I knew discipline was sadly lacking in my life and was the single biggest spiritual hindrance. I had grown to respect Elliot's work and felt she would not mess around with me. I was surprised to find in this book that she really seems to have a dual objective: 1) to deal with the subject matter of discipline which she does effectively and 2) to defend the Catholic church.
