Philip Yancey has a gift for articulating the knotty issues of faith. In Disappointment with God, he poses three questions that Christians wonder but seldom ask aloud: Is God unfair? Is he silent? Is he hidden? This insightful and deeply personal book points to the odd disparity between our concept of God and the realities of life. Why, if God is so hungry for relationship with us, does he seem so distant? Why, if he cares for us, do bad things happen? What can we expect from him after all? Yancey answers these questions with clarity, richness, and biblical assurance. He takes us beyond the things that make for disillusionment to a deeper faith, a certitude of God's love, and a thirst to reach not just for what God gives, but for who he is.
Philip Yancey serves as editor-at-large for Christianity Today magazine. He has written thirteen Gold Medallion Award-winning books and won two ECPA Book of the Year awards for What's So Amazing About Grace? and The Jesus I Never Knew. Four of his books have sold over one million copies. Yancey lives with his wife in Colorado. Website: www.philipyancey.com

Seeker5 Stars Out Of 5Disappointment with GodSeptember 23, 2016SeekerQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0This was a meaty book. It showed how different people struggle with apparent injustices of this mortal life.
At times of our greatest need he often seems absent or silent so we doubt his love for us.
He gives examples of people, who at one time or another feel that God is not there or is not listening.
Through many examples
Yancey shows us that though at times God may seem far away, he is still there. It is our perceptions
that distort what is true. Yancey has a poetic way of showing the frailties of man and his dependence on
a God who often seems to not be there. I can't do justice to explaining the profound thoughts in this book.
I highly recommend any works by this author.
