Editorial Reviews

I am so grateful for this book--it is much needed. We face so many things as female athletes, and having a book with encouraging tips and stories from female athletes who have been through some of the same experiences of these young athletes is so valuable. I wish that I had something like this growing up!

I cannot emphasize enough how needed this book is. Elizabeth is someone whose writing I've relied on in specific phases of my life for its practical wisdom and spiritual direction. A book specifically helping young female athletes will truly be a blessing to so many young girls as they work to navigate the challenges of competing in their sport while trying to remain faithful to God.

I looked for a Christian devotional when my daughter was in high school where she can lean into God's Word to help her get through the challenges that she faces as an elite athlete. I was not successful finding anything. As a coach of high schoolers of all levels and as a mom of an elite athlete, this book is much needed and will help our teens mentally, emotionally, and spiritually! I have no doubt Elizabeth's book will meet a need of thousands of female high school athletes.

I wish I had a book like this when I was growing up! It provides practical and inspiring advice on how to be your very best for God and keep competition fun and spiritual. Highly recommend to anyone who has felt the pressure, heartache and victory of playing sports while developing into who you want to be for God!

I'm a huge supporter of this devotional for female high school athletes. I believe this devotional is crucial and will make such a huge impact to many on multiple levels! I believe it would help girls with their self-talk, self-image, confidence, and grace. I truly wish I'd had something like this when I was in high school to help navigate my identity in Christ while balancing my sport.

She shoots . . . she scores! Elizabeth Laing Thompson's In Season is simply one of the best sports devotionals I've ever read. Elizabeth packs In Season with a winning blend of charm, humor, and practicality, bringing powerful spiritual truth into the locker room in a way that is highly relatable and encouraging. This is the devotional that every Christian female competitor needs.

This book will change the way girls see athletics and how they show up as athletes. Often, an athlete's humanity can become overshadowed by the winning and losing of contests, earning the approval of coaches, parents, officials, and peers, even by making an idol of their talents. This book will keep girls from developing a perspective of their self-worth based on their athletic performance. Instead, they will have a GPS to establish and maintain their identity in Christ and allow sports to be an asset to their spiritual and emotional development, no matter the outcome of their season.

This devotional beautifully captures the heart of what sports can teach us, not merely about competition but about purpose, faith, and the strength of the human spirit. Elizabeth Laing Thompson thoughtfully weaves these themes throughout each devotion, using her gifts to encourage reflection, intention, and growth. Her words resonate deeply with my spirit and will undoubtedly inspire readers at every stage of their journey on the field and in life.

We were created to do life with others in order to live in its fullness! Elizabeth Laing Thompson pours wisdom into young women, which is essential for their ability to excel on and off sports fields. I wish I had a book like this when I was entering my high school and college seasons. These encouraging stories from other female athletes will remind young women that God can use them in unimaginable ways through the athletic opportunities He has given them.

What an incredible resource for young female athletes--I wish I'd had this much sooner in my athletic career! Competition and Christianity can be a confusing topic, but Elizabeth helps Christian girls navigate the unique challenges that we face both on and off the track and field. This book will give confidence and clarity to women who play sports and want to glorify God in the process.
