There are so many things to love about this 31-day devotional that is equal parts light-hearted and heavy-hitting! First, Devoted by nineteen-year-old Marjorie Jackson provides more than just a short devotional reading each day. She also provides a small handful of thought-provoking, deep-reaching questions for either personal reflection or discussion with others, based on the reading and Scripture for that day. Each day also has a challenge to push the reader to put the day's "lesson" into action. As if all this isn't enough, she also includes beautiful hand-lettered coloring pages to enjoy. Can you imagine? And I haven't even really talked about the content yet! Devoted is geared toward young women and speaks intentionally to the issues that these girls struggle with every day. There's hardly a subject that Jackson doesn't cover, and I HIGHLY recommend this devotional. So do influential Christian women like Holley Gerth, Olivia Hawkins, and Emma Mae Jenkins. Buy a copy of this devotional today and richly bless the young women in your life!

I have really enjoyed reading this book! Marjorie is honest and not afraid to speak truth. Each chapter/day addresses relevant topics and even the most basic ones are great reminders that encourage and challenge me. I especially appreciated Marjorie's personal examples, as well as the daily challenges and the coloring pages, which give you time you let what you've just read sink in. Definitely a great book - whether you're in middle school or college!

What were you doing when you were 19 years oldstarting a full-time job, planning a wedding, attending college, living at home trying to figure out what comes next? For author Marjorie Jackson, the answer to that question is releasing her second book is clearly intended to influence young women to think about their relationship with God.

The book can serve as a one-month devotional or the subject of a group study. Each entry starts with a passage of scripture followed by several pages fleshing out that passage. At the conclusion of each chapter youll find questions for personal or group discussion and a challenge to live the way your Creator intended. An added feature is hand-lettered coloring pages which allow the reader to be creative while concentrating on the scripture lesson from the previous chapter. Although the book is written by and targeted to an audience of young Christian women, older women can benefit from reading it as well. This book would also be great for a mother and daughter to share. Who among us would not want to find information that will help us grow closer to God?

In Devoted, Jackson covers such topics as the power of the tongue, setting an example, forgiveness and finding joy. She advises young women to be modest in dress and behavior and gives a scriptural foundation for these views. The author admits that she is in need of advice herself and often falls short of her own ideals, but she continues to read the Bible and search for wisdom in its pages.

Jacksons book is a valuable resource for teens and young women because it focuses on real-world situations and dilemmas. She doesnt sugarcoat these areas of tension but provides scriptural truths to make the decision-making process easier. I think this would make a great book for a teen bible study.

An excellent devotional for girls, written by a young lady who clearly loves the Lord and is a gifted writer.

I loved the format of the book. Each chapter starts with a Bible verse, followed by an essay written in a friendly, conversational manner. Next are three thought provoking questions and a doable, encouraging challenge. Each chapter ends with a beautiful coloring page of the key verse.

An especially good chapter was focused on joy. One of my favorite words! She even referred to my favorite verse: Psalm 30:5 " Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning." Do you want more joy in your life? Try practicing an attitude of gratitude.

This little book is packed full of wisdom, good advice and relevant life lessons. A joy to read and to share. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.
