"Raw, honest, hopeful—these three words came to mind as I devoured this book in two sittings. Rachel draws heavily from the heart-breaking death of her daughter and her own wrestling with God during Taylor's degenerative disease. Yet, in the midst of deep grief and confusion, Rachel turns pain into purpose and weeping into wisdom as she shares powerful lessons with us. As soon as I finished this book, I immediately turned back to the beginning, so I could review all of my highlights I'd made."
—Scott Savage, pastor, author, speaker, and YouVersion partner

Tell us a little about yourself.  Hey, I'm Rachel, wife to Matt and mom to 6 on earth and 2 in heaven.

Many thanks to Christianbook for sharing much-needed light and love through their products and services!

What was your motivation behind this project?  This project began with a cry to God for help. Throughout years of difficult circumstances, the most essential life lesson for me has been learning to lean on God in prayer for every detail. As I studied the Bible, I was repeatedly reminded to go to God through the desperate prayers of men and women I read about. As I began to follow their decision to pray first in every situation, I knew that others needed those prayer reminders as well.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  My prayer is that folks will know just how much God longs to hear the hearts of His children. I long for this book to prompt deep prayer conversations that result in a deeper relationship with our heavenly Father.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  When I reflect on my prayer journey with Jesus, I sometimes laugh. Who writes in their prayer journal for their kid to be potty-trained? (raises hand sheepishly) But writing this particular project involved a lot of holding joy and sorrow together in the same hand. Due to the loss of loved ones most dear to me, much of the writing in this book is hard-fought street cred. I can easily pick up any chapter in this book, and the tears will flow because I've seen God do amazing things.

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  Whether you've convinced yourself that God is far away, or He doesn't have a specific interest in you, or maybe you're mad at God and believe He won't want to hear from you, give me a chance to share with you, just how much He longs to communicate with you.
