AnnelrBrighton, MIAge: Over 65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Dangers in the DesertApril 12, 2017AnnelrBrighton, MIAge: Over 65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Desert Secrets by Lisa Harris is a Love Inspired suspense novel and is a book you will need to fasten your seatbelt for. The breakneck action, taking place over just a few short days, begins in the first chapter with the kidnapping of the heroine, Lexi, a young engineer who has gone to Timbuktu, Mali to help provide water for the many in need of fresh, clean water. The action continues til the end of the book with scenes like more kidnappings, plane crashes and chases through the Sahara desert. With the barren terrain and blistering sandstorms and insurgents continuing to pursue her, Lexi's contentment she'd found in helping people was quickly slipping into panic mode? Will Lexi ever get out of the mess she's in--the mess her stepbrother caused with his greed for money? Can she trust Colton, the handsome and very capable man she recently met? Is there a chance for a romance amidst all the chaos? The author has written a plot that crackles with energy and tells an entertaining and suspenseful story. The characters are realistic, intense, and evocative--you definitely are rooting for the good guys to catch the bad guys and to catch them in time! Through all the action and drama, faith in a God who cares is woven into the story, reminding readers that God can be relied on for strength and wisdom. Even when the unexpected hits and the end is uncertain, we can know that God is right there in the middle of it all.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. A review was not required and the opinions are my own.
Swagner5 Stars Out Of 5Full of excitementMarch 25, 2017SwagnerQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Lexi is over in North Africa helping to build clean water systems. Next thing she knows she is being kidnapped and the men are looking for her stepbrother. Lexington doesn't know where he is, or what it is he's done, but she knows she needs to get out of there. While in captivity, she meets Bret. He has been held captive for two months, for ransom. The want his family to pay two million dollars. Money that don't have, his only hope is his brother in law, Colton.
Colton has only one plan, if this doesn't work, who knows what will happen to Bret. His military background has helped him, but just like out in war, you might have a plan, but that doesn't mean it'll work. He never counted on there being another prisoner. But as soon as he saw Lexi, he knew he couldn't leave her behind.
This book is great! It has a lot of action and suspense. Car chases, airplane getting shot down, people who just won't let them go. Plus, it's clean. No language or sexual content. It is a Christian based book, and the characters pray and talk to God. They rely on their faith. I really enjoyed that. I honestly couldn't put this book down. I finished it in 2 1/2 days. If you're looking for action packed, this book has it.

SuzieNashville, TNAge: 35-44Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Danger at Every TurnMarch 17, 2017SuzieNashville, TNAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4In a story that is not only relevant to the dangers facing travels in foreign countries today, Lisa Harris allows readers to experience both the beauty and the dangers of the Africa in Desert Secrets.
I loved both of these characters so much. While Lexi Shannon is put in a position that leaves her vulnerable over and over again, she is also tenacious and brave. She has a good heart and that shows through over and over again. And Colton Landrylets just sigh here at this hero. A man who is determined to not only to keep his brother-in-law safe but also who refuses to leave Lexi behind.
As this group finds themselves in precarious situations over and over again (loads of action and high tension in this book between kidnappings, rescues, car chases, and more), its their faith in God and each other that keeps them going.
A fantastic, fast paced story from Mali to the Sahara to Morocco (and even Ireland). Dont miss the action-packed adventure in Desert Secrets.
