Product Description

Demons are real and demons can even afflict Christians. Though some might debate one or both of these statements, Whyte is convinced that the Bible and his own experiences have both proven each statement to be true. And if he is right, it raises a lot of important questions about demons and how they affect us. He wrote this book as a practical handbook to answer some of those questions.

Whyte begins by discussing our authority in Christ, and gives examples of how that authority has come forth in deliverance. He offers valuable information about how deliverance is accomplished, and what its impact on believers can be. Then Whyte looks at several distinct types of demonic personalities which he has encountered, and which are likely to be encountered by other believers. He discusses how Christians can protect themselves during deliverance ministry, and how to ensure that deliverance is final and lasting. His emphasis throughout the book is the freedom that is available to Christians through the blood of Christ.

But what really sets this book apart is its extensive question and answer section. Whyte looks to the Bible and his experiences to answer questions about the nature of deliverance, how demons can impact and affect believers, different types of demons, how to enact a deliverance ministry, and even some common objections which are raised against deliverance ministry. Examples of questions include: What exactly is a demon? How does a person come under demonic influence? Can we inherit demons from our anscestors? Can a Christian be possessed by a demon? How can Christians resist the powers of darkness? Can anybody cast out a demon? Are there dangers inherent in deliverance ministry? and many others.

Eminently practical, and thoroughly scriptural, this book will likely become a standard for deliverance ministries. If you are skeptical about demonic activity in our contemporary world, this book may change your mind. If you are convinced about the activity of demons in our time, this book will help to motivate you to take your place in this important spiritual battle. Its emphasis on our authority in Christ is a timely reminder of the power and promise of God with us. You too can be a part of this battle, and help to free people from the tryanny and cruelty of the demonic.

Author Bio

H. A. Maxwell Whyte (1908-1988) embarked on a journey in ministry that was fraught with uncertainty and an absence of familiar landmarks when he was sovereignly led by the Holy Spirit into an understanding of demonic activity and spiritual warfare. As is so often the case with pioneers, he was misunderstood, ridiculed, and ostracized by the Christian community, even in his own city of Toronto. Despite great opposition, he forged ahead in the battle against the forces of Satan, convinced that the ministry of deliverance was scripturally based and was being restored to the church. Later, he began to record his experiences, and over the next two-and-a-half decades, he authored eighteen books. His first book, The Power of the Blood, has been translated into several languages and is widely distributed throughout the world, selling over 500,000 copies internationally.

Not a very good book with some pretty wild claims and misinterpretations

I ordered this book when I saw it because I thought it looked interesting, but was pretty disappointed. This book makes it sound like every physical disease/ailment is caused by demons. I don't believe that. Physical diseases and ailments are NOT always demon related. The author also claims that we can be BORN with demons (pg 92) That's ridiculous. I was colic as a baby and had a really upset tummy, it was NOT caused by demon possession. The author also suggests that Simon's mother in law had a demonic spirit that caused her fever, but that is not what the scripture says in Luke 4: 38-39. It states that Jesus rebuked the fever. There is NO mention of a unclean spirit being cast out of her. Anytime Jesus cast out devils out of a person that was actually afflicted by them, it clearly states it. Also it talks about a "smoking demon". Apparantly those who are addicted to cigarettes have a "smoking demon". This author is forgetting that at one time about 40 years ago LOTS of people smoked cigarettes. Including many pastors, and Christians. To suggest that cigarette addiction is caused by a demon is utterly ridiculous. It's the addictive chemicals and additives that are added to the cigarette that makes it addictive. Cigarette company's do this to get people hooked so that they will keep buying their cigarette products. Let's use some common sense here. Back in my Grandmothers day they told everyone smoking was good for them. This author is making wild claims about something that scripture is silent on. Smoking is a expensive habit that isn't good for your health, but to suggest that it will send you to hell, or that it's demon possession is unbiblical. Bottom line, this book was a waste of money.

This book is very informative and explains the role demons play in our lives and how believers should keep these truths in their mind and heart.

This book is a "make sense of things" kind of book. When I couldn't find answers to my questions anywhere else, Demons and Deliverance came through. Common sense approach too!
