Publisher's Description

When Leigh Ann pulled the trigger ... her life changed forever.
On a balmy night, everything changed in the stilling of a heartbeat ...
During Leigh Ann's psychiatric clinical work as a nursing student, a patient swept her off her feet with his dazzling good looks and charm. But soon after marrying Mr Right, things began to go horribly wrong. Believing the best of the man she loved, she endured the heartache and abuse until his threats turned deadly.
On the night of September 16, 1994, Leigh Ann Bryant, fearing for her life and that of her young son, shot and killed her husband. Panicked and afraid of retaliation, she told the police an intruder had committed the crime. Indicted for murder, and subsequently jailed, Leigh Ann's journey of desperation miraculously turned to one of ultimate healing.
In My Defense is for anyone who has felt alone or hopeless at the hands of abuse - whether it is emotional, physical, sexual, or spiritual. It offers tangible hope for victims - and those who love them - who are earnestly seeking the light of healing and freedom. Leigh Ann's story will grip and shake you, and never let you go.

Just finished... WoW! What a great read and couldn't put it down! Every face has a story and this is an amazing one of crazy young love between two seemingly lost souls in a fallen world where things went horribly wrong long before the fateful night. Then the gripping story of a long, hard and courageous road to redemption at each turn of the page. I'm reminded that I too choose my sin, but not the consequences. Denial through terror, torment and a life of chaos with an amazing ending of redemption and rejoicing in the ultimate unveiling of a plan and purpose for the hope of another of God's kids willing to transfer their trust to the only One who can wash away the guilt of sin- Jesus Christ our Savior!

This book was a heart-breaking yet fascinating look into the heart of a young woman who made some bad choices and learned what it means to live with the consequences of those choices--in the most difficult of ways. The courtroom accounts and the description of her lawyer's defense was especially brilliant. If I had any criticism at all, it would be that occasionally the language was too flowery for my taste. But the overall message of the book, hidden like a gem in every chapter, was that even from the rubbled mess of a life, God can redeem and restore. This is the story of hope that Leigh Ann so masterfully weaves.

I really didn't know what to expect reading a memoir. I have never read one before. But if you didn't know you would think you are reading a fiction book. But unfortunately, the events in this book are all true.

As I read I was captivated by the downward spiral of Leigh Ann's and Vincent's relationship. I was frustrated by her at times when she didn't walk away from the relationship when it was obvious Vincent wasn't going to keep his word.

But I have never been in a relationship like hers and I might have done the same thing in that situation. If Vincent was as charming as the book portrayed maybe I would have wanted to believe him. Not to mention Leigh Ann's wounds she carried from her childhood into adulthood. I do understand that. She believed she wasn't good enough for anything else and blamed herself for most of what happened.

This book will hold you captive as we you wait to read the words of redemption that you know will come, when Leigh Ann finds her identity in Christ and receives His amazing grace.

If you are hesitant to read a memoir I encourage you to give this one a try I don't think you will be disappointed.

And the best part of all is Leigh Ann has turned her story into a Genesis 5020 story. She is using what the enemy meant for harm for God's glory and to help other women in the same situation.

An ebook of this book has been given to me by the publisher through Netgalley.com in exchange for an honest review.

I knew that Leigh Ann had a story when I heard a few parts of it a couple of years ago. Normally, I wouldn't read this type of book but hearing just a small bit of it had me wanting to know the entire story.

I just know that there are many women that need to read this book. It is a sad thing that these things still happen in our day and age. I am so glad that there can be a good ending.

Thanks for sharing your story Leigh Ann Bryant. Excellent work and effort. Great for a movie!
