Hughes shares how God's Word has shaped and influenced her life. By using details from her personal story, she illustrates the importance of reading your Bible often and how she found comfort in reading it. She also gives tips on how to read the Bible, explains different methods and provides a plan on how to read through the Bible in 365 days at the end of the book.
I really, really liked this book. Denise's story was very inspiring and I could often relate to her. She accomplishes to stirr a desire in the reader to dive into God's Word and become more familiar with it. Her style was also easy to read and very engaging. I found the plan in the back of the book very helpful to read through one's Bible in one year, too.
I would recommend this book to anyone who's wanted to get (back) to reading their Bible for some time or simply enjoys inspiring stories from real life.

The stories are great and long which I like very much. It teaches you a few things along the way . It also makes you laugh, what a book.

Trisha Goddard5 Stars Out Of 5The Transforming Power of God's WordSeptember 12, 2017Trisha GoddardQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5"Deeper Waters: Immersed in the Life-Changing Truth of God's Word" by Denise J. Hughes changes one's outlook on life and the importance of being immersed in God's Word. Throughout the book, she shares stories from her life, and how during those times, God used them to draw her closer to Himself.
Denise says, "This book is about determining in our hearts to study God's Word and obey God's voice because, when we do, we're set free from the brokenness that binds us and the sinful patterns that permeate our choices." The two words, study and obey, are key to my spiritual growth as God's daughter, so that I may be transformed from the inside out.
My favorite part of "Deeper Waters" is when Denise talks about the compass. She says, "The arrow points due north. Always. And that's what the Scripture does for us. When we're immersed in the grace and truth of God's Word, we find the path that leads us home." When I am off track, lost, trying to decide where to go, and asking, "God, why me?", I am so thankful that I have a compass (God's Word) to point me right back to my Guide, the One Who loves me and will guide me each step of the way.
"Deeper Waters"created in me a hunger to create space to hide away in God's presence, to study God's Word more in-depth, to seek His face continually, and most of all, become more proactive at being listener. I recommend this book!
