Concert pianist Liesl Bower has put her own dangerous past behind her, and in her Charleston family home, surrounded by those who love her, she's preparing for a world concert tour with her dear friend, violinist Max Morozov. She thinks she's safe; the man who tried to kill her is dead, his coconspirators have been rounded up, and no one knows she had anything to do with saving the world from a new revolution.
That is, until a world leader is assassinated on the other side of the globe, setting events into motion that could kill the U.S. president, destroy Washington-and take everything and everyone Liesl loves with it. A madman is at the controls now. Even with the backup of the CIA and the dubious protection of a former KGB agent, this time they may all be too late.

From the back cover: In this finale to the Red Returning trilogy, the plot to resurrect the Soviet Union takes a daring dive into the churning depths of the occult.
Twenty-year-old Tally Greyson isn't consumed with her own education, social life, or career goals like most young women her age. Instead, she's trying to save her mother from the grasp of a seductive cult. What Tally doesn't realize is that in this community, there's a far greater danger than any she can imagine-and she and her mother aren't the only ones in its sights. There are plots brewing here that will threaten the fate of the world.

The heart-pounding final book in the Red Returning trilogy, Deeper Than Red goes further into the world of espionage and action than ever before, delving into the very worst powers of darkness, and pitting them against the light of faith, love, and forgiveness.
World domination, Assassination and religious cults are just some of what has to be dealt with in this chilling conclusion of this first-rate series. Political intrigue and suspense saturates "Deeper Than Red". There is a madman who has the ability to take over, destroy the U.S. and restore the Soviet Union. It is all hands on deck as the small team has to band together to stay alive and defeat him. "Red Dawn Rising" is almost a non-stop action thriller. Ms. Duffy has put in so many twists and turns in her story that it would make a roller coaster envious. Max, Tally and Lisel are wonderful characters that we care about, want to see escape the danger that they find themselves in and want them to succeed. Sue Duffy has given us a unique thriller that will keep you on the edge of your chair as you read and flip pages as fast as possible. I recommend this book highly and look forward to more from this highly talented author!

How we take our every day life for granted, and when reading these books it becomes a real eye opener of the possibilities that have a true ring to them.
We all know that evil walks here, Satan is always ready to grab you, and this place in the FL Keys is fictional, but oh how I believe it is somewhere! We are told that he is after us, and yet do we think so, No, but we put names and faces to him in this book.
After three books where we hold on to the book tightly, hoping that nothing will happen to Liesl and her talented friend Max, we are experiencing it again. Also the President, Nolan, and such hate his half brother has for him, and we learn that not everything was rosy for Nolan.
Power is all-important here in the quest for world domination, and innocent people have no value, so very sad. Once this final book is picked up, you cannot stop turning the pages to see who is going to win, and survive. I wish there were more, and don't fret if you haven't read the first two books, this one allows you to get caught up in all the action, but do yourself a favor and enjoy the first two, you won't be disappointed!

The plot involves the stories of two people. A new character to the series is Tally, a twenty year old who is trying to free her mother from the grasp of a seductive cult. She doesn't realize that there is something brewing in the evil community that will threaten the fate of the world.
Returning is concert pianist Liesl. Having recently foiled a rogue Russian plot to attack the U.S., she is now preparing for a world concert tour with her dear friend and violinist, Max. She thinks she is safe because the man who tried to kill her is dead.
We find that the danger is still very present, however, when the Russian President is assassinated. A mad man is setting into motion his plans to destroy Washington. Even though the CIA and a former KGB agent try to protect Liesl, this time they may be too late.
This is a great conclusion to the trilogy. There are plenty of spies and lots of action. There is one who wants to take over Russia and return it to its glory. There is another who hates the U.S. president and wants to see him dead. There is yet another who runs a diabolic cult, using it as a cover for deadly efforts.
The characters are well crafted. I loved Ian and Henry. Who says senior citizens can't help save the world from a Russian menace? They were great and added a little comic relief.
Also part of this novel is the theme of forgiveness and healing after such a devastating event as the Holocaust.
All around, it is an exciting novel. If you like novels about international espionage, you'll like this one.
I received a complimentary copy of this novel from the publisher for the purpose of an independent and honest review.
GRANNY PENNYAge: 45-54Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5A NAILBITERJune 2, 2014GRANNY PENNYAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5"Deeper Than Red" was sent to me by Kregel Publications, free of charge, in exchange for my honest opinion.
"Deeper Than Red" is a Christian suspense novel written by Sue Duffy. It had my attention from start to finish. Just when I thought I'd figured it all out, something happened to change my mind... Just when I started to despise a character, they did something to make me sympathize with them.... pins and needles... Ups and downs... A real roller coaster ride!
In "Deeper Than Red" we followed Leisl Bower and Max Morozov as they prepare for a concert in Germany. There is a small amount of Romance in this story, but it mainly concentrates on the drama of it all.
"Deeper Than Red" involved terrorism against the United States. It was very intriguing! Evgeny Koslov was a former KGB assassin who came to care deeply for the young pianist, Liesl Bower_like his own daughter it seems. He kept her in his sight and kept her safe through all of the terror she faced. Leisl's daddy, Henry and her husband, Cade's granddaddy Ian, found out there was a threat to Leisl and chased it down to Key West, where we met Tally, Mona, and Spencer. They were at a weird demonic university. Mona was possessed. Tally was trying to help Mona, who was her mother. And, Spencer believed he was sent there to help spread the gospel and save people from the demons. It seemed that an old enemy (that everyone thought was dead) resurfaced there. This villain is trying to destroy America and rebuild Russia.
That's all I can tell you_to whet your appetites, but not spoil it for you.
You need to read this book to find out more - especially if you like thriller suspense!
I recommend it!!
ACS Book FinderAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5International intrigue, séances, etc.June 2, 2014ACS Book FinderAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This book would be great for anyone who loves adventure or spy thrillers. There was much going on, with several different scenarios at the same time. The book has several settings in America, as well as Europe. The author did a very good job of telling about the characters and the back story behind each of them.
The main character is a pianist, Liesl, who was brought into the spy world by accident. She is a very brave heroine and does what she can to stand for what is right. She is a Christian and often prays for those around her.
One of the characters is entrenched in a spiritualist camp and her daughter is desperately trying to save her. Even though this is a fictional book, I know there are people who believe in psychics and have séances and this part of the story is very real. There is a Christian man in the camp who is watching out for the daughter and tries to get her to see the Light and help her save her mom.
The international ties in the book are between the president of the United States and his half brother, a Russian, who was an illegitimate son of his father.
There are many other characters who add to the excitement of this book. Two of my favorites are the father of Liesl and her husband's grandfather. They are a pair and do what they can to help protect Leisl.
I really enjoyed this book and want to go read the first two in the series! (reviewed by T.Lyles, teacher)
