Kaye WhitneyMiami, FLAge: Over 65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Bloomer Girls, Bicycles, Deceit and RomanceMarch 4, 2015Kaye WhitneyMiami, FLAge: Over 65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5After reading Courting Trouble by Deeanne Gist, I just had to buy Deep in the Heart of Trouble to see what other trouble these memorable characters faced. I was not disappointed.
Essie's escapades sometimes made me gasp, but more often made me giggle. I liked her enterprising spirit, even if she was considered scandalous by some of the other characters. I admired Tony's determination in his dilemmas, but sometimes I wanted to give him a good talking-to.
I enjoy reading historical fiction, often because it teaches me something new and authentic about that era. I certainly learned some interesting facts about the oil field development in Texas and those bloomer girls, all wrapped up in an eventually sweet romance.
SheriffMAAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5my favorite story line of allSeptember 27, 2014SheriffMAAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5you must understand both story.
its funny and very morally impacting.
i love how deanne tells the history of the struggle of women.
the message is about waiting on God, using your sensibility and walking in the freedom of who God made you to be. note that at first i was a little worried where her charechter's path was going, but it all makes sense in the end.
this is my favorite story (both books) of all deanne's story.
i loved how the first one ended, with the consequences of sin. (that was a surprise)
and the second story, how God redeems it all.
a lot of history wrapped in a story line that will keep your attention.
recommend to my teen daughter

The Quiet EccentricCanadaAge: Under 18Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Better then the first book...April 12, 2013The Quiet EccentricCanadaAge: Under 18Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Alright, so I wrote an incredibly long review for the first book in this series, so I'll try to cut it short for this one... :)
Deeanne Gist is one of my all time favorite authors, and in this book, she didn't disappoint! It was superbly written and researched and the whole story was wonderful! Deeanne really knows how to pace her stories, when to put the romance and where to add a little suspense.
I'd highly recommend this book to all historical fiction fans, and although it would help to have read the first book, I don't think it would be completely necessary. This is a great love story, and it was certainly worth reading!!!
