Melissa3 Stars Out Of 5Entertaining readMay 30, 2017MelissaQuality: 3Value: 4Meets Expectations: 3DiAnn Mills is great at coming up with plots and characters that are very interesting. This one opens with a scene that will definitely grab you.
I loved how faith and questioning faith was woven into this book. Tori really questions whether there is any validity to Christianity, I like it when I character is real with their struggle.
I also liked the question of who was behind the murder. Things didnt add up and there was so many possibilities that my mind kept going back and forth, never sure.
Although I found the plot interesting there was a lot in the book I did struggle with. Some things didnt make sense and the reasoning behind the characters actions didnt always add up for me. Some of the dialogue felt really strange, I think because it was sometimes scattered, more like real life but reading real life dialogue isnt easy to do and made me confused and had me rereading somethings over again.
But, aside from some of the chunkiness of thoughts and dialogue it was a very entertaining read.
A copy of this book was given to me by the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Your case, the people in your life, even your thoughts and fears have a purpose."
Special Agent Tori Templeton and U. S. Marshall Cole Jeffers have one thing in common, they never really knew their friend Nathan Moore until after he was murdered. All appearances aside, Nathan was an incredibly wealthy business owner, a loving husband and father, a kind philanthropist; but the man kept secrets that ran so deep that once they were unearthed, law enforcement agencies began a frenzied hunt for a cold-blooded killer.
Unfortunately Nathan's lovely wife, Sally, is a prime suspect, leaving Tori's personal relationship with her best friend in a precarious position. Nathan's sons are also confused and traumatized by the events preceding their father's death, leaving Tori and Cole to believe that the truth is going to hurt those closest to the case.
Enjoy reading this quick paced drama with a lot more questions than answers, up until the very end.
AmyL5 Stars Out Of 5Deep ExtractionMay 10, 2017AmyLQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I seem to be on a fiction kick lately. Maybe because it's my escape. Or maybe it's because I realize I need to spend some time being overtaken by the power of a story. In reality, it's probably a little bit of both. Deep Extraction by DiAnn Mills fit the bill of a story to escape in that showed me the power of a story.
I quickly devoured the first book in the FBI Task Force series - Deadly Encounter so that I could start Deep Extraction. Little did I know, I didn't need to read the first book first. Each story can stand alone. Each book in the series is built around an FBI task force and shares the story of how the agencies work together to solve a crime.
Deep Extraction shares the story of Tori Templeton, FBI Agent, as she teams up with Cole Jeffers, US Marshall. Together, Tori and Cole team up with Tori's partner Max. They work to solve the crime of a man they thought they knew.
Oil and gas magnet, Nathan Moore has been murdered by someone hacking his pacemaker. Though Tori and Cole are both longtime friends with Moore, they soon learn several startling and disappointing things about this man they once held in high regard.
Throughout the story, you are kept in suspense. The truth of what really caused the crime is a mystery you won't likely solve yourself. Though I caught glimpses and had begun to ask questions in the last quarter of the book, the final story only unraveled in the final chapters of the book as it wrapped up.
I loved the character development in this story. Both Tori and Cole had pain from their past to work through, as well as struggles through their current case. In Deep Extraction, you find realistic glimpses of what it looks like to work through some serious pains and questions.
This was a great read! I loved getting lost in Tori and Cole's story. Working to solve the crime was fun too.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and Tyndale House. This review is my own honest opinion.
