Publisher's Description

If one is comfortable with what one has been taught, the author asks, why should anything ever be questioned? Are we actually educated, or are we indoctrinated into popular interpretations? After traveling throughout the world as an applications engineer, far from his small-town upbringing, the author began to scrutinize the roots of how he viewed his place in the universe. The conclusions he reached altered his life and beliefs, and fundamentally transformed him as a human being. Big Bang? God created the heavens and the Earth? Where should we place our faith? These questions are about emotion as much as intellect, and Forbes has performed extensive research and drawn cogent and convincing indeed, inarguable conclusions. Deceptive Influences: Life s Emotional Opinion of God and Evolution assesses the motivations and theories of evolution from the cellular to the cosmic, and makes eminently logical and all-but-unanswerable demands of its very foundations.

Author/Artist Review

Author: William (Bill) Forbes

Tell us a little about yourself.  I am recently retired and enjoy woodworking, golf and writing and still have a bit of engineering in my blood. I have always enjoyed researching some of life's key questions. Keeping notes from my research opened my desire to share what I had learned. Writing was never a plan, it just happened over time.

What was your motivation behind this project?  There are so many answers to the question about "who we are" and "where we came from" that it becomes very confusing causing most of us to close our minds to the topic. My desired is to provide answers using an easy to understand approach, helping each of us to understand the information we are generally given and try to make it easy for each of us to make a decision for ourselves.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  My wish is that everyone walks away with a desire to know the truth. A desire to form and make a personal commitment choosing where to place their faith based on their understanding and not that of someone else.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  I am now comfortable in openly discussing the origins of life, the issues around the Bible, God, Evolution and Creation in a manner that will allow each of us to make a decision just where we should place our faith.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  John Maxwell, numerous books and resources on evolution and also creation, Charles Darwin, Thomas Huxley, Richard Dawkins, Lee Strobel, Russ Miller, Carl Baugh, The Bible and many others.

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  In either case, evolution or creation, it takes faith to believe one way or the other. On one side we live our life and then it goes away but on the other side there's something after death. This should be a serious question we ask ourselves. Is there really life after death?
