Wow, this story was chock full of so much suspense from the very beginning. ISB ranger Madison Thorn is now working in the fraud and cybercrimes division. No more violent crimes for her, especially after her former love and FBI partner tried to kill her and she ended up killing him instead. Now she is brought to the area where her grandfather lives, in Natchez, Mississippi.

Things quickly heat up for Madison when she has an unfortunate, or maybe not so unfortunate run in with ranger Clayton Bradshaw. He's interested, even if she is a bit reluctant. However, too many things are happening that are not only eerie, but they are way too close to Madison. Madison is discovering some family secrets she never knew about, and some maybe she never wanted to know. And toss in all the unfamiliar like what happened to her four years ago and the death threats against her grandfather as he is a judge, there is plenty of suspicious characters.

This was a hard one to put down and do real life. The characters jumped off the pages demanding to know how their story ends and the suspense and secrets really had me hooked. Something is unraveling in Natchez and Clayton and Madison must work together to find out what. This is new favorite by author Bradley.

Another outstanding novel by Patricia Bradley!

This romantic suspense starts at a fast pace, and the author doesnt take the foot off the pedal until the last page. I loved Madison, her relationship with her grandfather, and how she got herself together through each deception uncovered. Her dads secrets, her look-alike identity, and what about this Clayton fellow, ex-womanizer, ex-gambler? Perhaps there is more than one target or more than one killer. Full of action, twists, and turns, as Madison tries to figure out who wants her dead and why this gem will keep you guessing until the end!

I rate it five stars!

This may be the best book in this four book series. I had requested it to review, and for some reason kept putting off reading it. Once I started reading it, I could not put it down and read it in one sitting, other than drink and restroom breaks.

There is a lot that goes on in this book. It is not a slow moving mystery where the characters have a lot of downtime. The suspense and drama are pretty much non-stop, and had me wanting to read as fast as I could. The book seemed long (386 pages), and I felt I would never get to the end to find out the guilty party or parties....yet the ending seemed to come all too quickly.

The author had a great handful of suspects, and I am proud to say I was right on a couple of things.....but will give no spoilers. Madison and Clayton made a great team, and Clayton was made all the more likable and relatable with the addictions he had to fight. Perfect characters are annoying and unrealistic.

Deception is a romantic suspense novel, and there was not a ton of that in the book. It was more of a slow burn, and attraction was put out there a lot, though the characters did not act on it as much as is common in these kind of books.

Even though I guessed correctly on a couple of things, the book was still full of surprises....such as Dani. Read the book to find out why......

I was quite satisfied with the ending, and have that satisfied feeling after reading a great novel. It was time well spent.

This was a great finale to a fantastic series. Author, Patricia Bradley, knocks it out of the park once again.

ISB ranger, Madison Thorton killed an FBI agent in self defence and is now working in the fraud and cybercrimes division. Simple, peaceful, but not really. Once again, she is pulled into helping with a violent crime on The Natchez Trace and is not too thrilled about it. Someone is determined to kill her, but (Today was not a good day to die.)

Bradley leads us through interpersonal twists and turns with dynamatic characters as well as a strong suspense plot.

I was surprised to find several incidences of forgiveness and redemption in the book. They was well-written and left me considering things in my own life.

This is a fast paced novel, tight, clean and definitely a reread. You will not be disappointed reading Deception.

This was a great finish to the series. When Madison returns to Natchez to work on a case and see her grandfather, weird things begin to happen. It's clear her grandfather has something to tell her but he can't bring himself to do it. There is a lot of action. The danger is ramped up. People from Madison's past keep showing up. There are so many potential villains that make this a great whodunit. To top it all off, there are a few big reveals and twists that added a fascinating layer of complexity. It was a great read!
