Tell us a little about yourself. I have been in full-time in Christian ministry since 1990, serving in associate pastoral roles in both Alabama and Tennessee. I now serve as the staff chaplain for the Glacial Community YMCA in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin and have been on staff in this role since 2006. I am married to my wife, Kim, and have been since 1990.
What was your motivation behind this project? As part of my role as staff chaplain, I have written well over 200 devotionals. These brief devotionals were written to encourage the staff, volunteers, members and extended family of the YMCA. Each week, many would encourage me to compile them into book form for a lasting legacy. It is from these many devotionals that 31 were chosen to comprise the contents of this book. Book II may already be in the works as many are already asking for it.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? My hope is that as believers spend time each day over a 31 day period their faith will be strengthened. through both the words of this author, but more than that, the words of Scripture chosen for each devotion. And those who have yet to place their faith in Christ will find hope in His name in these words.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I have enjoyed reading Max Lucado, Francis Chan, and David Platt over recent years. Their style of writing has been both faith building, and have been a model for me to help develop my writing skills.
