Best-selling author Beth Moore has an undeniable gift for insightful Bible character studies. Millions have been drawn to her inspired lessons, and the media has called her “America’s Bible teacher.” The PERSONAL REFLECTIONS series reintroduces Beth’s most-loved books, expanding them into 90-day experiences that include most of the text from her original work, thoughtful questions, and journal space to guide readers through this special time of study.
David is the multi-functional new presentation of Moore’s classic A Heart Like His. More than ever, these intimate reflections on “the man after God’s own heart” will help readers to better serve God by understanding their own special place in His heart.
Bekah5 Stars Out Of 5Insightful and In-DepthJuly 20, 2017BekahQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5My husband and I just finished up Beth Moore's David: 90 Days with a Heart Like His, and I found it very fascinating. Not a new book at all, this one released back in 2006, and just like Jesus: 90 Days with the One and Only that we read a couple of years ago, the format of this book was pretty perfect for our morning quiet time together.
Each devo (and as you might have guessed from the title, there are 90 of them) is either one or three pages long, and it offers a passage of Scripture to read, a couple of reflection/discussion questions and a prayer at the end. There's room under each question and the prayer for some journaling, but we skipped that part. (I would do that if studying on my own, though.)
It's been a long long time since I studied anything about the life of David, so this was a great refresher for me. Another thing I really appreciated about it was the way she chronologically arranged the events of David's life for study. Since his story is spread throughout the books of the Samuels/Kings/Chronicles, and since some accounts repeat themselves, the timing can get a bit tricky to keep straight.
David was indeed a man after God's own heart, but he was also a flawed man, and Beth didn't hide either side of David as she wrote the study. Celebrating David's accomplishments and success gave us reason to strive to be like him, but learning from his sin and stumbles reminded us of how we shouldn't behave.
If you're looking to study a person of the Bible, David is a great (and fascinating) choice. The study is well done, and we both highly recommend it!
Super KAlabamaAge: 55-65Gender: male4 Stars Out Of 5A Devotional Book that Makes Us ThinkJanuary 9, 2014Super KAlabamaAge: 55-65Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5"David: 90 Days with a Heart Like His" by Beth Moore is a devotional book that goes into a large amount of detail to tell the story of David, from shepherd boy to king, "warts and all." Beth Moore's thought questions in the daily lessons are probing and thought-provoking, and the lessons and questions certainly can be used by the Holy Spirit to teach and convict us. My wife and I had recently finished Moore's 90-day devotional about Paul, and now we are about 1/4th the way through this book on David. We enjoy it because the lessons have us read main lesson scripture, and scripture that is background for or ancillary to the main lesson, and that provides application to the lesson. It also has space for daily prayer requests. I'd certainly recommend this book to others. And men, it's all right to read a devotion by a woman...but is best if your wife will read and study with you!

We are only up to day 15, but have been very impressed with the content so far. I have really enjoyed that each day is a relatively short study, but packed full of insight and very thought provoking questions. I also like the time of reflection and devotion at the end of each day.

It is a great way to study David and start the day.
