Publisher's Description

Passion. It's the fuel for success, for dreams, for life. But too many teens focus their energy and passion on the wrong thing-the wrong person. Dateable pulls no punches in telling teens the truth about dating while also directing their passion toward a greater purpose in life.
Teen relationships seldom last, the authors point out, so why should teens invest so much of themselves emotionally, physically, and spiritually? The answer? They shouldn't. Instead, they can protect their hearts, live with excitement, and enjoy relationships in a way that enhances rather than detracts from those they'll have in the future. With Justin and Hayley "telling it like it is," teens will learn how to be dateable and how to evaluate the dateability of their latest crush. And they'll get some much-needed perspective on sex, his/her communication, clothes, God-even "chick flicks." Dateable also includes sidebars, quizzes, callouts, and more.

Author Bio

Justin Lookadoo is a juvenile probation officer, author, and speaker whose hard-hitting humor and in-your-face message connects with teens. He lives in Nashville, Tennessee.
Hayley Morgan developed and created Extreme for Jesus, a multi-million unit selling brand for teens. Her new company, Hungry Planet, is a teen think tank based in Nashville whose expertise is understanding and connecting with teenagers.

"Too many books for teenagers whitewash the harsh reality of dating life. Not this one. It starts by telling readers their current relationships won't last. From there, these two experts on teens get down to the nitty gritty--the stuff you try to tell your teenager about why breakups are often harder on girls, why some guys will lie to get what they want from girls, and how to put on the brakes when it comes to sexual activity.
"Lookadoo and Morgan serve as the wise older siblings who've been there and can speak you teen's language. But the real focus of this book is to help your teenager develop healthy, godly relationships with the opposite sex. The authors cover everything from modesty to pornography to how the other half thinks. Your teen will also love the goofy doodles in the margins--the authors' running commentary. This is not your mother's sex book, and it could be exactly what your teenager needs." -- Christian Parenting Today

Relationally practical and thought-provoking book were "rubber meets the road" when it discusses the spiritual heart and mind of relationships. Highly recommended for whatever stage of the dating scene you are in!

I didn't even finish the first chapter online, and I knew I wouldn't want to read this book. The four "truth's" he gives are hardly true. Like the third one: "You will date several people before getting married." Not everyone will. I won't. I have made the decision not to date, at all. I believe that when the time is right, God will bring my husband into my life, and He will show me that that's the person He wants me to marry. I've heard so many speakers say that dating young only increases the chances of you getting divorced. Personally, I don't see the point in dating young. As they said, "you're relationship will end"; another point that I didn't like. Who says it WILL end? They even go on to say that even at 18, you're relationship WILL end. I know plenty of people who dated when they were around 18 and are now happily married, for several years. I can't judge the rest of the book, but based on the first chapter, it's not a great Christian dating book. I've never heard a Christian say "oh yeah, dating's great. Experiment! It'll help you later in life". O_o I highly recommend reading the preview here, before buying the book.

This book was an excellent read for my 14 year old daughter. She did not want to read it at first and then couldn't put it down once she got started. This book was everything I had been trying to talk with her about. As a single parent, it's hard and I appreciated the extra help! As Christian women and men we really need to stick together to teach our children the ways of the world and the ways of God. Thank you Justin and Hayley!
