Tell us a little about yourself. My passion has always been to tell stories to entertain others and come alongside them on their faith journeyaspects I try to weave into each of my published novels.
I write Southern stories of mystery and suspense, with a hint of romance to entertain readers. I love reading and scrapbooking and card-making.
When I'm not writing, reading, or crafting, I love spending time with my family: my husband of twenty-eight-plus years, my three beautiful daughters and two handsome grandsons, and our four character-filled pets at home. I'm honored to serve the writing community as Executive/Conference Director for ACFW. To find out more about me, visit my website at robincaroll dot com
What was your motivation behind this project? I'm a Louisiana girl, and I love writing about my home state. The culture and mindset of us Louisianans is totally different than anywhere else in the world. I wanted to share a place that means so much to me with everyone else. I hope that readers can sample a taste of the Cajun culture and maybe take a trip down south. :)
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? This book has an underlying theme of forgiveness. As a Christian and person in general, forgiveness is often very hard to extend, and sometimes even harder to accept. I wanted to explore how everyone has secrets in their past that can lead to a myriad of emotions: guilt, anger, shame, and that we usually have to work through some level of forgiveness--giving or accepting--in order to move forward.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? My all time favorite contemporary author is Stephen King. The way he creates characters who have such impact...I stand in awe. Some of my favorite Christian fiction authors are Colleen Coble, Dee Henderson, and Terri Blackstock. I love Edgar Allen Poe and Mary Higgins Clark, but the Trixie Belden series will always be my first book love. I think that's where I began my life long love of mysteries and suspense.
