Author/Artist Review

Tell us a little about yourself.  Lynn Vanderdasson is an accomplished writer who knows her topic well from personal experience and hours of research. What makes her book unique is the way she communicates as though she is sitting right beside you, talking with you one on one. If you don't read this book, especially if you have been overcome with the dread of depression and anxiety, you will miss all the golden nuggets that are found throughout the book to guide you to wellness and a happy, productive life. She tells her story and also reveals how to overcome depression for good.

What was your motivation behind this project?  I have suffered through many depressive episodes since I was thirteen, many of them lasting years. As I was coming out of the last depression, I thought that there must be something proactive that I could do to help myself. So I decided to "go to the mattresses" and fight for my life. It started me on a quest to find deliverance from this profound suffering once and for all. God has put me in touch with some awesome Christian people that helped me into wellness. I simply want to to share what I have learned. Another motivating factor for writing this book is to reveal the erroneous ideation that depression and anxiety is a lack of faith and spiritual maturity. This stigma attached to mental illness in general and depression specifically, causes many depressants to not seek help so that they can get better and go on to wellness. So they not only have to deal with their depression but also with the guilt and shame of falsely believing that it is a spiritual problem. The third and most important reason for writing this book is to give great glory and honor to the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ!

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  With hope and intense supplication to God, I pray that this book will help many people realize that depression and anxiety is not a lifetime sentence. It can be overcome! I will consider it a great success if only one person can be helped, encouraged, and find hope to renew his or her strength and faith in the Lord and find the means to get well.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  Oh my, where do I begin? When people found out that I was writing a book on depression, many came to me seeking my help. The professional help they needed was sought and found and several decided not to suicide. My relationship with God has become so intimate while He stirred my spirit to write this manuscript that He has become my Forever Hero!

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  Dr. Gregory Jantz, Beth Moore, Dr. Mark Hyman, William Styron, Dr. Michelle Bengstson and a plethora of others. And, of course, Jesus when He suffered in the garden with depression and anxiety with blood, sweat and tears to the point of death and still submitted to the Father!

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  That Joy and Peace is fruit of the Spirit and God wants nothing less for us!
