I love trying to figure out the villain(s) along with the characters, it's probably the best part of reading suspense/mysteries, but I have to admit that with Dark Harbor I was close, so close, and still totally missed it.
You really can't go wrong in picking Dark Harbor, or any Christy Barritt book really, as your next read. And, hey, these little Love Inspired books are the perfect size for catching up on those summer reading programs and book challenges.
(I received a copy of this book from the author. All opinions are my own.)
GingerS2194 Stars Out Of 5worth the readAugust 19, 2016GingerS219Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I had a hard time getting into this book. Madelyn seemed wishy-washy, which I know is how she was supposed to seem, but it irritated me. As the suspense escalated, I became more involved in the book and enjoyed it more. I connected more with Zach than Madelyn throughout the story. I guess I just like strong heroines.
I received this book from the publisher/author in exchange for an honest review.

Police Chief Zach Davis comes to her rescue multiple times as she faces escalating threats, but could he be involved with the drug ring suspected of shipping from the area? Their increasing attraction for each other doesn't make this cat-and-mouse game any easier. Whom can she trust? Will she even survive to write the expose'? I received this mystery novel from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Laura HiltonHorseshoe Bend, ARAge: 45-54Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Dark HarborJune 17, 2016Laura HiltonHorseshoe Bend, ARAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4DARK HARBOR is Ms. Barritt's most recent Love Inspired Suspense, and as per the formula for these books, the heroine is kept running for her life. She's a travel journalist, for pity's sake. Who would be out to hurt her? The only one who has motive is Zach because she is also semi-investigating his involvement in a murder, but her instinct says he's a good guy. Plus, he always saves her. When things go from bad to worse, Madelyn isn't sure whether to stay in town or leave. But how can she leave with the job undone?
I enjoyed reading DARK HARBOR and am anxious to read Ms. Barritt's next book I have in my to-read-pile (hopefully, soon). I did guess who the "bad guy" was easily -- as soon as "he" was introduced -- because I know the formula. But I didn't know why, and even figuring it out early didn't make it predictable. Fans of Love Inspired Suspense will love Dark Harbor. Recommended.
KavRCanadaGender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Great romantic suspenseJune 8, 2016KavRCanadaGender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Intense from the very first page. Phew, Christy Barritt knows how to spin a suspenseful tale. Danger lurking in the shadows, a convoluted mess of clues to keep track of and then there's Madelyn's deception. Oy, reader angst aplenty in this romantic suspense. Along with sweet romance and a heroine who is just beginning to understand that living without Jesus means living without hope. Suspense and faith collide resulting in a page-turning read.
